Currently making around 115K TC as a fed consultant with a TS (3 YOE), I want to 50% that with my next hop. I already applied to Microsoft, MBBs, Salesforce, etc. I do business intelligence work (nothing too technical). Any recommendations on next steps? I'm shooting for a tech firm.

Tough to go to a tech firm without being technical. It’s like former Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman once said, “everybody wanna be a bodybuilder but don’t nobody wanna lift no heavy ass weights” 😤

likefunnyuplifting

Love this lol

You're already way overpaid for your YOE. Expecting a 50% increase is a lot

like

I strongly disagree that you’re underpaid. Just over 12 months of experience, 110k is high

It seems like the consensus is that i'm hitting/have hit my salary cap based on YOE/skills. Action Items: Get technical

like

If you want to stay in the government space, exactly. The government pays for YOE of X skill, not pedigree or reputation.

If you can become more technical, AWS will beat 115 with a TS; probably more like 150

like

You can easily do that if you're technical or can talk your way into a job with sales targets (and you meet them). As is, you are currently overpaid by quite a bit fot vanilla, non-technical fed work with a TS.

Your best bet based on your experience may be solution engineering at Salesforce/Tableau. I don’t know about 50%, but it will be a double digit growth with commission.

Let's talk money 💰

Why are there glass ceilings on salaries in NL?

Considering that cost of living has gone up significantly here, doesn't the market need some adjustment?

Is salary just a function of years of seniority?

I do understand the case of better WLB and social benefits than the US. Hence not a direct comparison.

Anyone who understands the market willing to share their take?

Thanks!

In my response, I helped mentor with best practices on how to ask for a raise professionally since I need to make a case to my Head on finances. But their performance has been avg and not seemingly worthy of another large raise within a short period of time. But how do I respond when they talk about personal finances?

I am a 5 year experienced developer and am applying for position as a developer in bank. I have cleared the assignment, interview and soft skills. I next have an offer interview scheduled but it’s with the IT chapter lead and the Manager instead of the recruiter. That feels bit weird and I feel they would talk me on a low salary because I am “not so experienced”. I did interview at another company earlier and they refused to pay the salary I asked for because I wasn’t senior enough. Any tips ?

Hey all,
I am looking for some guidance. I am currently an RN and just feel like the healthcare system is falling apart. I currently work in home health and am thinking about what my next job choice should be, whether in nursing or something outside of healthcare. I’m feeling so unfulfilled in work and just burnt out. It could be I just need to step away from direct patient care and do something more behind the scenes. Anyone else having these thoughts or have any guidance? I appreciate the help
