What's the salary range for a director at the Gilead Sciences foundation? There is a position perfect for me, but I don't want to throw my hat in the ring if starting salary isn't $180-190k. Also, any thoughts on the stability of their philanthropic commitment? There's talk of a recession; I don't want to go private to be cute a few months later.

Did your new job come with a description along with responsibilities? If so, that’s what you should be focusing on. If you’re moving into a job that isn’t defined and there are no clear objectives - I am worried for you and I would not advise taking that job.
My advice:
(1) Ask your manager how success in this new role will be measured. The answer to this question is the answer to your question.
(2) Identify what is most important to your manager and to the company.
(3) Be obsessed with learning new things. Job shadow other people. Understand how your company makes money. Understand how work gets done. Understand what is really valued and what is not. Know who your customer is and who the most important stakeholders are in this role. Interview those stakeholders and ask them what they expect from you. Understand the problems you should be solving in this new role.
And then focus on that.
this is a loaded question 😜 did you get a job description or not interview to know what the job would entail if you will not be doing payroll? I am assuming you will be doing onboarding, employee relations, training/dev, off boarding, compensation/benefits, talent acq, a little more or less of any of those areas
While interviewing I was told they need help handling employee accommodations, increasing engagement, and overall give a fresh perspective to fill any holes they may have in their practices. I’d like to learn more about any tools, practices, reporting etc that have proved useful for others.. trying to figure out if there’s anything I’m overlooking or just not aware of
I thought you should know about that before you agree to sign to take up the job. They have to explain to you your duties and responsibilities and what is point of concentration. Transparency is important so you will have the the liberty to choose to whether or not accept or deny the offer.
IMHO there is nothing more important for work or life than Managing Expectations. If they cannot clearly communicate expectations you will have a very hard time meeting them. OTH a previous response listed “generalist” responsibilities pretty well. Maybe look at “ads” for Generalist and/or HR Business Partner for their listings of responsibilities as potential roadmaps for you.
I think almost everything you need to know is written in the job description. If you want to know a particular detail, it would be better to ask the recruiter/interviewer. But I think your main job will revolve around management.
