Corporate loyalty is BS!! Take the offer and run.

Take the offer but make sure they have good benefits for when it’s time to deliver that baby! Explain you’ll be on maternity leave after your 90 days! Good luck OP!

Delay the house. The real estate market is not exactly going to have run away prices for the next couple of years. Take the new job and try to build the finances right for the house in the next 2-3 years.

Cont’d: to top or off the salary is the same as what I am making right now (at 100%) but the job is much more aligned with my personal values. Lastly, another con is that we are trying to buy our first home in a few ni the and need all of the savings possible, plus max loan amounts. Wondering if anyone has been in the same or similar position, or knows someone who has!!

Take the job. Not worth losing your soul

Take the job! After accepting, mention the maternity leave. Not that they’d rescind for you being pregnant anyway! But check the maternity leave policy. You probably already know, but federal leave /FMLA only kicks in after 1 year of tenure

Don’t jump now. Nobody knows what will be the work life demands after you go back. At current company they will at least consider your situation.

The belief that you should be able to move from HCOL to LCOL and not have to take a pay cut is ultimate in socioeconomic and geographic privilege and outright entitlement. Nobody is going to give LCOL a raise to move to HCOL. The work you do is the same, you produce the same value, bill the same rate as peers in another geography. Take a pay cut or give LCOL a significant raise.

I’d love some help thinking through this. I’m currently renting for $1600 base ($1800 total) and live in the least desirable part of town, and expect it to raise to about $2k/month. I was planning to buy my first property in the city and Airbnb part of it, but it will take me about a year to save up the cash (~$500k starting). Eventual goal is to move more rural but trying to build to FI. I found a property in my ideal dream location for $280k but it needs work, and can’t Airbnb it. Continued

Sometimes I feel like my boss takes "coaching" a little too far. He's all about "breaking me down" in order to "build me up". He's told me things like my voice is too boring when I present, or that I didn't do enough in my last role, suggesting that I wouldn't be in his team if it weren't for him in team meetings. Yesterday he asked me to call someone (on a non-urgent topic) who was on DND, and when I told them I'd call them later, he mimicked me. Am I being too sensitive?
