take it. The first in-house gig is the hardest to get, especially for litigators. I went in-house with the same profile as you, you take what you can get to get out of biglaw. Once you’ve demonstrated you know how to operate in the in-house environment, it will be way easier to get something more permanent. Or who knows? They might even offer you the gig!

This is your foot in the door. Take it. You want to start building your in-house resume and this is a good start. Depending on how you got the contract role, they may end up hiring you. Large companies take forever to hire someone so if you’re already there and you can demonstrate your need to the company long term, it’ll be a lot easier for them to hire you than to post for the role and wait 3-6 months to hire someone new. Even if they don’t, you still have over a year’s worth of in-house experience you can use to spring board to your next position. G’luck!

Take it! I did the same thing.

It’s a risk but one that might be worth taking, as long as your life situation can take a potential period of unemployment after. Agree with others that the first in house job is the hardest to get by far, especially for litigators.

Are PE firms conducting final round interviews virtually? I had an interview last week for a Jr CW job. All went well it seemed. The CCO’s exact closing words were “You’re gonna have a great career. Your ideas are good”. Additionally, a CD there I contacted on LinkedIn said the CCO liked my book. But he ended by telling me they’re still getting things sorted out and to follow up this week. Don’t know if this is a bad sign I won’t get it or if I’m just being insanely impatient and unrealistic.

Got a recruiter reaching out for a "sales operations architect" role for @Microsoft. The brief description he gave sounds intriguing.
