Currently working in a contract position at KPMG Canada in M&A advisory. Looking to make a switch into Investment Banking. Anyone follow a similar path? Thoughts?

Almost 3 years into a position as a “technical engineer” that does both project management work and design work. During my career planning discussions I’ve been asked whether I want to go down the manager side of engineering or the technical/design side. Wondering what advice you have for making this decision. My understanding is that usually the management route offers more room for promotion and a higher pay ceiling, however I became an engineer for the technical stuff. Thoughts?

I work in Insurance, but have antifraud background. I received a job offer for AML and the pay is lower, yet I know it is something that interests me more.
