Out of curiosity, do you have any real world experience and have you found the books helpful?

No.. im still in consulting and have never held the pm title.. looking to transition now. Yes. I guess nothing beats doing the actual work in real time. Everything else is only barely enough to get your foot in the door..

Book recommendations or any other tips to solidify basics, welcomed.

Your biggest advantage over candidates in interviews is saying how many products you have launched. This is easiest if you have launched non implementation MVPs for clients. When consultants apply for tech roles they make the mistake of playing up implementation experience - this will not get you the role. We don't have room for error or time to teach people how to PM, especially at startups. The more you can demonstrate that 1) you know how to do the job and 2) you can do the job well, the easier it gets for us to extend an offer. If you need to learn how to PM, aim for a APM role. That being said, I'd you still want to make the jump directly to PM, read cracking the PM interview - it will give you the right perspective to approach the process.

Thank you A1. Its now on the top of my list of books to read.

Just got an offer for a Sr. AWS DevOps role at 145K, I will be working remotely 100% with maybe 5% travel, if any. No bonus with this company. I have over 8 years of DevOps and AWS, all AWS certs . Should I be asking for more $? Thoughts on the offer and how much more $ I should be asking for ? Current location is kinda irrelevant since I will be working remotely.

Hi Fishers, I have a interview with PWC for the Global Aura technical engineer, can you advise what can I expect with regards to the work been assigned for this particular role.

Received an invite for a superday very quickly after applying to Goldman. Recruiter never sent me the zoom password and then the password failed to work so everything started a full 15 minutes late. Interviews went great including a “they’ll definitely be a second round” but then I received the rejection email the next day. Do we think the tech issues played into that significantly or just my interview not stacking up to other candidates?
