Czapek
Czapek for me…
Why?
I really like aspects of both. The GMT function is beautifully executed on the Tonda, but at the same time, the date function on the Czapek is more useful to me personally. I also appreciate the fact that the Tonda bracelet can be easily be swapped to a fairly standard strap if desired compared to the Czapek, which would take far more effort and custom strap creating from what I can gather.
And although I’m not in love with the large 12 on the Czapek, I do prefer to larger contrast on the dial from the machining vs the way the Tonda has been machined, which although also beautiful, I just prefer the Czapek more.
I can’t speak to the wear or quality of the Tonda as I’ve never seen one in the metal, but I had the chance to see a very similar Czapek at the last NY Watchtime event and I was blown away with the comfort and the high quality finishing on the Czapek. It was absolutely one of my favorite watches I saw and tried on from the entire event.
*below is me trying on the Czapek CEO’s personal watch on at their booth* 😂
It was an absolutely amazing watch. Although I’ve always told myself I’d never go up to that sort of price point for any watch before, this watch was the first one that I was like “damn this might be worth it” 😂

Czapek. The Tonda has too many design elements going on, so it doesn’t feel cohesive to me. Note though, that the Czapek is crazy back ordered and they may stop taking orders soon. Demand has exploded for the Antarctique.
My Czapek that will hopefully arrive soon:

Here’s my thinking: the “12” for the standard models has the little red triangle 🔺, which is a nice tie-in with the red tipped seconds hand. The 12/red combo makes the watch very sporty.
The double indices is more elegant and symmetrical, which lends itself to being dressier.
There’s a tiny trade off between one versus the other, but they’re both spectacular. If push came to shove I’d probably do the double indices though, mostly because I like that the indices overlap the chapter ring.
I don’t think this is an apples to apples comparison either - the tonda GMT is 29k and the antarctique is 22k. Maybe that’s minor at this price point. Also, if you don’t like the “12” you can get a double index on the Czapek. It also comes with a quick change bracelet and a complimentary second strap.
Disclosure - I preordered a Czapek for next Q1 as well. So I am clearly biased!
This was a page on the second strap selector for the glacier blue. I went grey rubber in case you were wondering, but that blue calf is also calling my name! Can also change the center seconds design (all red, red tip, or all silver)
Tonda
Tonda all the way for me. Cleaner, better dial texture, better bracelet, and the way the hands overlap in own time zone is amazing. Love the gmt function on it.
Rising Star
I am totally smitten with the Tonda GMT

Now THIS is a hell of a versus 👏
Specifically folks looking at the blue dial czapek micro rotor and the newly announced Tonda GMT Rattrapante. Aiming to put down a deposit fairly soon (since my grail watch at that price point, the Overseas GMT is unobtainable)
How do you replace the 12?
You can customize your orders. Go to the website and check it out. Might be for new models only.
