Saw a post in Consulting bowl that bench people in PS started getting fired. Anyone has any insider info? Post link:
I recently started working remotely for an IT consulting firm based in LA and NYC (400 EE). I joined at 65K with 3.5years experience and 5k bonus. I currently live in MN.
When I first joined, we had a head of HR with a comp of 170K and HR manager 100K. We are all remote. Now the company fired the head of HR and asked my manger and I to revise our comp and submit to accounting.
What is the right salary to ask for? since I have a lot of things to take care of now.
I’m sorry if this sounds insensitive but does it look bad if one of my recommenders is laid off? I was about to ask for a rec but haven’t yet
If you are fired at the end of a PIP (ie 30 day performance plan) what is the most common practice for severance? I know companies are not entitled to give you anything and especially if it’s a firing not a layoff.
Just got benched, been completely billable till now, how long until I should be worried about potential layoffs? (Even though management is “committed” to not letting people go during covid)
Just got laid off from PwC after nearly four years. This was my first job out of school and I'm actually not upset. PwC has treated me EXCEPTIONALLY well, and I see a lot of upside from here.
My background is in data analytics, process/performance improvement primarily within tax, accounting and business use case development, but I really want to find a new opportunity within analytical finance, transformation or bus dev/strat.
If you know of an opportunity, I'd love the chance to network!
Left my consulting job after 2.25 years in October 2019 for a venture backed startup. Laid off in March 2020. Joined a VC fund as an intern shorty after, but our fundraise (for our fund) got pushed back.
I was approached about helping grow a small executive recruitment firm focused on private technology companies. I’ll be chief of staff. The company takes $150k/placement + equity. The co expects to hit $1m in rev this year. They also invest in startups.
Should I do it? Is this pigeonholing?
New here from 🇨🇦, and have an odd question about the health system here. I went to a Dr. for a fully covered standard appointment and swore I uploaded my insurance to their portal. I was laid off from my tech company a week later and lost benefits two weeks post that. THEN I get the full bill from the Dr. and they never billed my insurance or called for it if it was missing. Is this normal? The US system is crazy when it comes to billing! Never comes on time or correctly
@MBB, y’all think layoffs hit your firms? Or will it be an increase in CTL? Maybe a hybrid of both?
Now with the Deloitte layoffs announcement I feel my paranoia is reasonable. How do you manage work life balance when you want to keep your hours up for fear of losing your job? I have been asked to shift some of my work since I’m working too much apparently and others aren’t working enough, but that scares me. I am a February new hire, very nervous.
Laid off by my group and was given time to find a new gig. I found a new one and will be departing the firm in two weeks. The senior partner who hired me and for whom I’ve done majority of my work for is not speaking with me, ignoring my emails and requests for a call to inform him about next steps. My guess is they’re disappointed with me and feel like I’ve embarrassed them. How do I salvage this relationship? I’ve beaten myself up enough for my performance issues that led to this.
Hello y’all! I am back again for another round of LinkedIn endorsements. With the bad economy and layoffs, let’s all support each other with all the help we can get.
Please provide me with top 3 skills you’d like endorsed for and I will also do the same.
Would really like to know what's going wrong at PwC. Can someone please explain the root cause of unhappy employees, layoffs and steamroll culture?
Happy Sunday! I have officially been laid off from my position as a Marketing Strategist. During this time, I decided that I would be making the switch from the healthcare industry to the tech industry. I have worked in the social media and content production field for three years and in marketing strategy for four years. If anyone who works in fintech or tech is willing to give me a referral. I would appreciate it.
I think I’m about to get let go, along other senior folks, because my agency is top heavy and not quite hitting our numbers. I need minor eye surgery for a condition that they know about. My question is, should I let them know I am going to have surgery and may need to be out a day or two? Will that affect their decision to let me go if it seems like it is medical or age related (turn 45 tomorrow). Will it help my severance negotiations? I want to hold on to this job as long as possible.

My boyfriend is finally able to get his covid vaccine next week after having been out of the ICU for having had COVID and pneumonia. I’m super worried about him and how sick he might get, as I got very sick from the shots after having contracted a minor COVID infection, myself, early this year. Has anyone experience this scenario? Any tips or things I should be aware of or watch out for? (Presuming he is going to not feel well and I’ll be taking care of him)

Hi All - I was recently involuntarily separated from my previous employer and was wondering whether they could disclose the reason/details of separation to potential future employers? If not, what can/do they disclose?
Additionally, do I have to explain the details of my departure with future employers during interviews or inform them I was separated? What's the right approach?

For all international consultants in North America. What are good practice areas or functions to have experience in that can set you up for good exit options (visa, global transferability etc). Trying to be more intentional about balancing between interest (consumer) vs practicality (tech, biopharma etc).
Currently a post-MBA Consultant, might start looking for industry roles after a promotion.
Can you buy just miles to achieve next level status on Delta? I don’t need MQDs so I don’t want to waste my money on the bundles. With flights booked through concur we couldn’t do mileage boosters 😭
Is it still worth it to see bands like Foreigner & Chicago? I know sometimes the members age out and can sound less than good (reasonably so). Both are coming to Red Rocks and I would love to see them.
That’s right Delta, play Céline Dion over the PA system in the skyclub. That won’t piss people off anymore than the 5-9 hour delays in NYC we are already experiencing
