Dad sent me a copy of his 1980 employee manual from Arthur Anderson. It has references to the client's switchboard, expensing telegraph costs and an example of a handwritten timesheet. Epic.

It’s remarkable how poorly today’s manuals are written in comparison. Anderson’s manual is simple, helpful, and to the point. With no acronyms.

57$ in today's value. How does that stack up Vs current policies? Think my firm has 60€ dinner allowance but that's it on away jobs. But we don't need to pay for breakfast or other personal costs (laundry etc) and alcohol is fine too

“Phillips!! Summarize dammit! At this rate we’ll spend our fees on telegraph costs!”

I joined during the tail end of the Andersen Consulting era. Misspelling the firm name as a recruit could get you passed over. if you were a new hire, it could result be a CLM*.

Testing TV files for Extreme Reach

Is there a website or portal you can use to test TV files before submitting? I have a client who handles their own traffic, so anytime Extreme Reach rejects or even questions something that is not a problem, it gets kicked back and a bunch of clients get CC'd on an email saying: "this failed QA."

At every other agency I've worked on, we would be able to handle any kickback or tweaks internally with zero client involvement. I'd love a way to test files.

Just started a new project with a bank client. Got my client laptop. Opened the web tool they use to change your password across all systems. The https site, wait for it, did not have a SSL cert installed. I get that it's an internal site that requires VPN connectivity, but no cert? Not even a self-signed cert? Really?

Hey everyone! I am a CPA, started at PwC, now the assistant controller at a small/medium sized Ag company. Thus far, the plan has been to follow the CFO path. But recently I have been longing for more social/client facing interactions. I am very extroverted. I love meeting and connecting with new people and would like to incorporate that into my career. Any thoughts on possible career paths that would combine my experience in accounting with a more socially fulfilling job?

Thanks I’m advance!

Do any carriers in Europe pay salaries equal to their American counterparts? I’ve found that the salary for my role is pretty much halved across the Atlantic.

I know that my company, Chubb, does and from time to time they have rotational programs where not only do you maintain your US salary but you also get COLA and a housing allowance, unfortunately nothing right now nor permanent.

Another option would be insurance companies that pay your American salary while working abroad.

Any leads?
