Daily calcium intake: my prenatals have 150 mg but Dr. Google (I know, I’m sorry) says it should be 1,000 mg? Where’s the disconnect?

Most prenatals have low calcium because calcium absorbs the iron in the prenatal (something like that). My MIL is a doctor and told me to take a calcium supplement several hours before or after prenatal for this reason.

You have a good doctor if he /she is telling you this. My doc didn't, I only knew to take a calcium supplement because of my MIL. Like the above person said, you can get calcium from other foods, but I take the supplement just in case.

Pregnancy book I'm reading gives examples of food sources that you can get it from. Long story short, yes you need a lot, otherwise it'll come from your bones and potentially lead to osteoporosis. I do think I read something about carefully timing calcium vs iron supplements

My prenatal has no calcium at all. My pregnancy nurse said most people get enough from food. However, as I’m lactose intolerant, I may not get enough because I don’t drink milk. I was recommended taking calcium supplement and it has to be taken at least 2 hours away from prenatal and iron supplement (also prescribed as I am anemic). The label says it should be taken with food so I have it with meals and then have prenatal and iron supplement 2 hours later.

Hi. I am 8 weeks in and bleeding dark brown. Light bleeding. I have already checked last week through an ultrasound that it is not an ectopic pregnancy. There was normal heart beat. I know miscarriage is an option, but any other reason that I could be bleeding without miscarriage?
