Restaurants I recommend - Uchi/uchiba, sixty vines (my favorite place), nick and Sam’s (expensive though), velvet taco, pecan lodge bbq, revolver taco lounge, tei an, tei tei robata, blue sushi sake grill, mot hai ba, fearing’s, Lockhart’s bbq, mercat bistro
Places I recommend for drinking: Katy trail ice house (a MUST), Bowen house (happy hour), happiest hour, bishop arts district (daytime), deep ellum (night time), Kung fu (karaoke and large outdoor games), times ten cellars, sixty vines
Not going to find much in terms of outdoor activities, but here’s a few ideas - walk the Katy trail, bike white rock lake, visit the Dallas arboretum, eat at the food trucks at klyde Warren park, walk the shops at Knox Henderson or bishop arts
Check out Statler Hotel downtown, young vibe - popular for guys/girls trips and they have a cool bar. Can visit the JFK assassination site for a bit of history
Deep Ellum has tons of live music spots and good for pub crawling
Also, check out the Knox/Henderson area. Felix culpa is pricey but the atmosphere is supposed to be lively. Pie tap pizza is bomb
Go to the Arboretum for outdoor fix and see the 500k tulip bloom, or stroll down Katy trail and hit up shops in between
- Walk Katy Creek trail then grab food/drinks at Katy Trail Ice House - Dallas Farmers Market - Paradiso or Casablanca in Bishop Arts (IG worthy patios) - Kayaking at White Rock Lake - Trinity Forest Adventure Park (outdoor obstacle course) - Akai (Japanese speakeasy / lounge) - Drake’s (Sunday jazz dinner or Friday night DJ, upscale dress) - Thursday’s on Tap @ Perot Museum - Drag Lunch @ Tequila Delicious (weekend) - Vagabond Vintage for thrifting
I’d suggest staying in the lower Greenville area super cute and safe. HG Sply, Leelas, La La Land Cafe, Truck Yard, Alamo Club, Standard Service, and more all in walking distance. I’d have HG Sply rooftop on a must-do list
Even though the author of these tweets is in the medical field, it is just crazy how she described my daily experience as the only lawyer of color in a predominantly white work environment.

The Lowest Greenville area is really cute on Greenville Ave. The food and drinks were really great at HG Sply Co. They have a rooftop as well!
