Absolutely no relevant detail in the article. Just includes quotes from politicians about how good this bill is that they are sponsoring. So good. The best!
I’d bet it applies only to new ones, eliminating the lottery

Love it. Especially hoping the fact that Bernie Sanders is co-sponsoring this bill will give it credibility that it’s not “just a Republicans’ attempt to further nationalism” or sth.

Chill.. this is a proposal. No where close to a law. This will take another 10 years to pass

YES!! And they should also have strict requirements for what constitutes a US degree! No Trump University graduates, who took online courses from some random country outside the US!
It mentions that as well
And even better, it’s bipartisan and bicameral
TL;DR? Broke my reading glasses
See my comment to KPMG below
Does it say anything about folks with non Stem US degrees i.e. Mba? Can’t open the link.
Many mba degrees are now stem so those folks will be covered in priority 1
What about a bachelor’s in a STEM field?
Fifth priority, and only if it’s a US bachelor
Any text about reforming the GC process?
Just read the Bill’s table of contents- seems like this does not address the GC process
So this is in lieu of new H1Bs right? Doesn’t address GC, does it? It is huge though if passed!!

I wonder whether I’m wave 3 or 4. Not very happy about this segregation but it’s more fair for sure. Read that managers salary in bay is around 170-250k in their doc based on Forbes. Sounds very high to me. I’m on the low side of that. Not sure if I will qualify
I can't open the link. Can anyone tell me what they say about L1 visa? Thanks
Another bill that will fail. There is no way this passes with the current language. The 50-50 clause was added to S386 by Durbin and many opposed it. It was removed in the later revision but then Durbin blocked the bill. Good that this bill tries to address many H1/L1 issues. Some of these were part of S386 as well.

Yes, staffing firms won’t let this pass with this 50-50 clause. They are monsters and would do anything to ensure the bill doesn’t pass. They have been lobbying for years now against h1b & GC reforms even though many of them are Indians. Its all money that they care about
Is the bill likely to pass any time soon?
IT Body shopping industry would do anything not to get this further. Tough fight as always with any immigration laws in this country.
Rising Star
True! They would do anything to not pass the bill.
Chill out guys..many such bills have been introduced but never passed, though I am in favor of such bills that award H1B to most educated and best paid.
every year such bills are introduced ...but most of them are not even brought to discussions. ... H1B is not the priority of the Government..This is going to die soon without even clearing stage 1
OP: what does the 50/50 terminology allude to?
Got it. Wasn’t there some other provision earlier re this?
So if there are anti’s for this bill don’t you want to be fighting hard against it ? Or would you rather want to sit and watch what happens ?
