I live in a house with roommates and one roommate wakes me up every time she leaves for work simply because her door is loud. Any idea what home improvement solutions would make sense to block the noise?

I put some cushioned draft stoppers under the doors and that's helped a bit, but I'm looking for more. I'm not sure what exactly works best for low frequencies like doors closing. Some $12/12 pack foam acoustic panels look promising, as does a $100 sound damper curtain...

Texas biglaw: let’s name & shame firms who expect us to go back to the office five days a week with no hybrid model going forward.

Personally, I will continue to WFH twice a week despite my firm “strongly encouraging everyone to be in the office once vaccinated.” Wtf are they going to do? I’m an adult and if I’m billing my hours, it shouldn’t matter.

So let’s name, shame, & make it clear to these firms and their boomer management that we will not go back to the pre-Covid miserable grind.

Was talking to a colleague who told me every email she read she would bill as an additional .1 to her block bill for that matter. How common is this? If it’s very common then I am undercutting myself because I add max .5 at the end of the day to capture my email reading time when I might get 200+ deal related emails a day

Can we be honest for a second? No one has a clear policy for how we should be billing our time and no one wants to ask. I’ve heard perspectives ranging from, “a good faith estimate at the end of the week is sufficient” to “you need to have a timer going at all times and if you don’t turn it off when you pee, you’re committing an ethical violation”... also, “Bill anything that moves the deal forward” vs. “You can’t bill for collating documents. That’s not legal work.”
