I want to get on a new project and I need guidance on how a SC starts to pursue their own projects. Up until now I’ve been told to wait for your manager/practice leader to assign projects to you, but that’s landed me in a situation where I’m under-utilized and on an engagement that has nothing to do with what I want to do. Plz help.
Is everyone always on a video call at Google? Many other companies have communication around zoom/video call fatigue, but wondering if that culture has dipped into Google's at all?
Wife and kid are going to be out of town for the next 2 weeks. Instead of wasting time, I’d like to do something productive. What would you do if you have say 3+ hours a day. Maybe self help, wealth creation type books, work out daily, take care of some things around the house.
Anyone at Ogletree Deakins, Jackson Lewis, Littler, or Fisher Phillips who can share the latest on their remote work policies?
Is it really worth it to get your Masters degree! Or is the extra increase in salary just going to go to student loans?
Anyone have any insight on the culture/personality differences between the Northeast and SoCal?
Hi fish need some advice. I want to get a job in the finance industry, specifically in quant. I don’t know many people outside of consulting so I’ve been applying blindly without a referral which hasn’t worked. What are some tips to help expand my network?
Hi. Has anyone recently filed a H1B transfer petition or extension in premium processing? How long did it take you to receive the receipt notice? Is USCIS still sending email notices or only snail mail? Thanks!

Woke up at 3am with work anxiety; got out of bed around 5.30 to sketch slides. NEVER happened before in nine years of consulting. MD promotion stress may be what finally does me in 😩
I’m done trying to compensate for a broken system. I know it means that the kids will suffer from a substandard education, but as long as they think we will pick up the slack it will never change.
I’m leaving a Manager role to take a Director one. They are finalizing the formal offer letter now. I want to leave my current team on good terms, not drop the ball on projects I’m leaving. I’d also like (need) at least a week to refresh and reset and get organized before starting the new director role. I’ve been negotiating terms with the new place since September 3. We agreed on compensation yesterday. Is asking for a Nov 1 start date pressing my luck/being a jerk or totally reasonable?
If you had an opportunity to name your salary and set your billable hours, what would be the ideal ratio per month? Say for example your hourly rate is 400.
