Thank you for posting. Maybe, this will persuade those not taking the pandemic seriously to now do so.

Praying that he has a full recovery. I just saw him speak on a panel at a CLE at Fordham.

True. Thank you.

P1, that’s really not the issue nor relevant. People who are asymptomatic can carry the virus and infect others, the number of those “others” is higher than most realize, and the healthcare system is ill equipped to deal with the pandemic as is evident by what is currently transpiring.

This is a shame. I’ve met him a few times at events and he was always very nice. He and his partner adopted a baby a few years ago if memory serves. I hope he pulls through.

Oh no...hope he get well soon. People should really think this seriously.

Thoughts and prayers for David. My only (serious) question is whether he had some other pre existing condition other than just exercise induced asthma? It seems like that alone in a 40 something year old should not be critical but maybe I am underestimating this thing.

Asthma can turn any cold into something very serious because you get hyperbronchiosensitivity that can last for weeks--your airways constrict. Covid causes scarring at the alveoli (air sac) level so that's a double whammy. Im asthmatc and have gone into 100% quarantine since Monday (CA) because this could very well kill me.

Good evening all,
With my partner we are considering making a move to the countryside of Switzerland, with a gorgeous RE project offering incredible views on immaculate mountains and lake. However, it is far away, and will require 1h+ train/car commute vs. 10 min biking right now. We are scared it will bite us back at some point, although COVID helped w/ remote working being a new norm. The project will be done 2024, so I hope to have a more relax job by then. Any similar experience to share?

And is anyone in the securities/investment management arm willing to chat regarding a referral?

I keep getting surprised each month by our firm financial reports indicating we are relatively on track with our pre-Covid budget, while also watching our overall billable hour numbers for the year continue to go down. So, it is really 2021, when our 2020 backlog AR won’t be rolling in, that I should really be planning to hunker down for?? Seems a bit like the disconnected stock market to economy.

I’m a senior consultant with a few years experience doing big programme delivery and TOM design work.

I feel a like I’ve hit a ceiling, work is starting to get more repetitive, less interesting and challenges are mostly stakeholder management issues rather than technical.

I’d like to move onto something more intellectually stretching, whilst also accelerating my earning potential.

Does anybody have any ideas on possible career moves that would suit?

I spoke to a recruiter about a month ago regarding a position. The comp base variable split was 70/30 which was a great guarantee compared to 50/50 split on same OTE I have now. Since initial discussions the offer has changed to 60/40 split and a 20k lower OTE). I am quite disappointed but also see it a still a very strong opp and I’m really ready to try something new. They mentioned a signing bonus. What is a reasonable signing bonus to ask for? Its 40k difference from the orig base.

Riffing off a part in another bowl - if you could design a new economic system to replace capitalism, what would you change.

Clearly government control is not the way to go, but there are also clearly some major problems with a system that requires endless growth and prioritizes capital accumulation as an end in itself.

There has to be a better way to incentivize individual excellence while harnessing it towards more socially beneficial goals.

Currently in ID. A recruiter reached out with a plaintiffs side property/personal injury offer. The pay is $100-200k depending on experience. Since I can’t get anymore details out of the recruiter, and don’t have any knowledge of that side of the aisle l, is there a catch here? I always figured plaintiffs side had a lower base pay but got the real money from settlements.
