Daycare moms — do you do gifts for teachers when switching classes/moving “grades”? What about a classroom teacher that isn’t changing? I have an infant that has only been in school for 3 months. It is technically the end of the year and Monday starts a new year in the same class. My 3 yo is moving classes to 4 room so she will not be with her teacher again. TYA for your thoughts!

We did winter break and “end of year” cards and (cash) gifts

like

Yep, regular cash gifts keeps everything working swimmingly on the daycare front.

Works out to be maybe 4-5x/year. We do holiday gifts at Thanksgiving (so they can use cash for Black Friday shopping if needed), Teacher Appreciation week, “end of year” which was last week, and then I’ll do it once more at Labor Day. I also know my kids’ teachers birthdays so I’ll do a Target gift card or something smaller for those.

2nd Cousin has a Mexican boyfriend of 4 months and is 3 months pregnant - did not have conversations with her mother or her sister, close cousins before going forward. She’s feeling the lash back of a mother who’s looking to influence her decision and get an abortion before she starts this life. There are definitely some red flags with the guy with his income and that he doesn’t speak English, curious what others would do - what would your parents say? Mine would flip!

Today I finally took the day off for my mental health. This year, I lost my childhood dog of 16 years, am planning my wedding in the time of corona, and dealing with an emotional/verbally abusive parent. Was traveling coast to coast weekly before quarantine set in and never took time to grieve or process things. And since WFH it’s been 60 hour weeks and some weekends working. Today after some hurtful comments from my dad, it hit me like a ton of bricks. Glad I took this day to reset.

I (36F) am married to another woman (34F) and we have a baby (5moF). We split all childcare, cleaning, meal prep, errands etc fairly evenly and it works well. Maybe she cooks more than I do bc she likes it, and I clean more bc I need to have a clean house. My friend (35F) recently took a business trip and literally put a binder together with instructions for her husband re: daycare drop off and pick up, what to feed the kids, when to take out the trash and so on.
