Sorry to hear all this...weāre in a similar situation on the lay-off and recent cancer diagnosis. But havenāt applied for unemployment yet due to severance.
Will appreciate hearing advice from others.
Best wishes for things to start looking up!
So sorry to hear about your situation as well. Hereās my boyfriendās experience so far. He filed before receiving his severance (call them once you get it so they can confirm youāve gotten it) and then itās been terrible to get someone on the phone. He has an issue on his account. They said it takes up to 21 days to resolve; (itās way past 21 days now) to receive payments and heās gotten nothing so far in 8 weeks after 2 account escalations. Prepare to spend 1-2 hours on the phone each time you call for information (if you call before 8:30 am) longer wait time if after, but the call center doesnāt have answers on when your account will be reviewed by the claims examiner. Youāll get a letter in the mail each week telling you your account status and if youāre being paid and how much. I hope thatās moderately helpful as far as expectations.
