Client recently offered me a job for an open req (industry eq SM). The work is flexible, the req is just to get me in the door but I decide what I want to work on (which I trust to be true). Much better culture, wlb, etc., but I’d be taking a 100k pay cut and be an IC with no team. Is it worth taking a step back in pay and responsibilities, or does it seem possible to get all in one?

Is it smart to be in medicine these days (MD/DO)? I’ve been sold my whole life that it would offer job security, prestige, great pay, and flexibility. But hearing from so many who’ve exited practice and seeing how mid-levels are taking over the system (on top of the system being profit motivated), I’m wondering if it’s worth the sacrifice (time, money, energy) that I could put elsewhere.
