They did initially, but I just finished renting out my place and it went for 10% above prepandemic levels in less than a week. Maybe an outlier, but there are definite signs that rents are going back up.

I snagged an apartment for an amazing price in late April, but have noticed a steady increase in rent prices overall since there.
Places are still offering 1 month free, but you’re most likely not going to find deals like there were in Jan - April again

They are going back up for sure.

like

I watched closely over the past year, they were the lowest I’ve ever seen about Jan-Mar, then they started creeping up and now it’s basically back to normal prices with the addition of maybe one or two months free but I’m sure that won’t last long

like

Yep! I’ve noticed that too, those concessions are usually on 12+ month leases. Sneaky sneaky lease management

like

I was watching them pretty closely. Dip was huge, and now they seem pretty close to back where they were.

like

Negotiated 1 free month of rent and for monthly rate to stay the same when I agreed to renew for 16 months back in July 2020.

like

Just finished an application for a place in Navy Yard. 2 months and application fee waived. There are several specials like that still around.

Rent is back up because more ppl are forced to rent. Was looking for a place for my mom and it’s crazy.

My American citizen 8 month old is on tourist visa in India; current stay runs out on June 7. Flying outside the country is a risk we don’t want to take w/COVID. Don’t want to overstay the visa either. So we applied online on eFRRO to convert his visa to X-1 so we can apply for his OCI. They didn’t ask for payment and message popped up saying watch your text/email for next steps. Anything else I can do?

Second year considering leaving NY biglaw for a few public interest options. Partly for mental health reasons. Making market, and I would potentially leave for a starting position offering around / a bit over $80k. Holding out currently to see what else arises. Fortunately I don’t have much debt, and that’s enough to cover my basic rent/living expenses, but not by much. Has anyone made a jump like that before? How did you manage financially if so? Living in this city ain’t cheap🙃

A lot of folks, this bowl included, are getting a reality check at the moment, which i think is good for learning experiences. Hi all,
I graduated during Covid with a double major in business administration and business management with a minor in marketing and magically ended up in sales because I needed a job. I’m about to take a data analytics course to make an attempt to break into that field. I’m currently looking for a mentor to help guide me during this time. Also, if anyone is willing to look over my resume and give me tips on how to make it more presentable for recruiters in DA that would be very helpful. Thanks

Got covid from the UK , double vaxxed , and symptoms are wildly atrocious. Everyday I have different issues. I went from no fever to 102.4 in a couple of minutes. Blood oxygen dropped dangerously low and bounced back in a few minutes. Chills , cold sweats. My newest one is that my legs are so achey and sore it feels like they were beaten with a bat , just nonstop pain and can’t sleep. Anyone else experience these? Pretty sure I’d be hospitalized at a minimum without the vax

Need advice. Have some credit card debt that I’ve been working to pay off. Have made progress but want to lower it quickly. We have dual income, with a house (~$300k in equity), 1 kid and 1 on the way. I’ve looked into debt consolidation via HELOC but also have ~$80k in vested equity in my company that I haven’t touched. Get equity refreshes every year. Would it be smarter to cash out $15k-$20k of that to pay debt vs. a HELOC at ~5% given that will still require mthly payments

TLDR: Getting over your ex of 2.5 years ghosting you after they said they wanted to reconnect.

I was dating someone for about 2.5 years and then we broke up because of COVID and the long distance was making it too difficult to continue. The break up must’ve been like a 4-5 minute FaceTime because I was very distraught. After we broke up, she started seeing someone else but I was heartbroken and it’s taken me over a year to really get over everything and process those feelings. (Cont.)
