Hi friends,
Dm for referral in Deloitte India.
Your resume sounds impressive, especially having worked for some big names. But do you have any experience at all in DS? If not, chances are you'll be starting near the bottom with other newbies.
Yeah, I’m thinking if this is a really new space to you they wouldn’t have you in a manager role.
Don't think you'd end up in a manager role if you haven't had experience with DS. What interests you about DS??
Fair , thanks for response ..
With Data Science, am hoping to drive transformation stories at end customers level .. I did something similar with UK Insurance leaders /clients but a very small process group .. eg, changing their behaviour to use digital mode of retirements , thus bringing process efficiencies of 60% + - saved £3 mn for contract term.. all my projects are like this .. all my analysis had been an output of excel 😂
I am interested in learning that will help me know my clients better .. so am hoping better tools/ knowledge like of DS will be useful
Potentially - I doubt it will be management role unless you can turn the Ops + Biz transformation stuff into justification for DS roles such as communicating findings etc. I would think about how to restructure your resume to reflect these things and show that experience
Thanks .. very helpful .. agree ..
I just shared above and something similar to what you advised me ..

Thanks all for your responses. Helps me gauge this change better.
In Ops / Transformations role, I am lucky to have large scale success stories that were all data driven case studies .. mostly in UK Retail Insurance, Indian Banking etc ..
Someone from DS background had told me that usually if one gets a DS course from a reputed institute may not be expected to be a coder but be aware of fundamental/ concepts and should be able to lead a team .. hence was checking ..
Still your advice is helpful .. thank you so much 😊
I’ll still pursue DS .. just for interest sake .. I enjoy finding stories in data 😊
Sure, Thank You again. Happy Diwali 😊
