Dear Biglaw Partners,
Please don’t pad your hours and then try to justify it by taking credit for your senior associate’s work. We know what she knows and you don’t, and we’ll settle the case and fire you if you do it again.
Best,
Your in-house client.

Don’t just fire the partner. Give more work directly to the senior associate and help get her promoted. Play the game.

like

The problem here is the associate’s reward is more work and no origination. The response should be firing the partner and making sure origination goes to those handling the matter

No idea what happened but sounds interesting.

Yikes

Also isn’t the whole point of being a partner to take credit for the work of your more junior lawyers? 😅

Not if you’re double-billing your clients. Billing 0.2 hours to read your associate’s summary is fine. Billing 10+ hours for work I know your senior associate did is not.

Account ppl - hello. My role has recently become very project management and account focused. This has always been someone else's job. My role just requires many hats. I keep making small faux pas like emailing clients late (once) without considering what this looks like. There are better ways to learn than the hard way.

Can you suggest any resources, books, courses, films etc that I can read up on. How to be a professional account handler type thing.

Lol... someone at our firm is very actively trying to start a union.... yet our most important client is very very anti-union and the associate acknowledges he/she has no real demands and basically everything is market determined. Unions also typically have fees/take from salary....

I am a campus joiner in Tech Consulting at pwc India. I got allocated to one project in support role as my first project। Is there any chance so that I can get chance to work into development project in future? Or my career will be stuck here in support based roles only? They said they will deploy here for few months.
Getting really confused, please help.

Has anyone ever left a firm and the client whom you’ve been supporting wants to have you/your new firm take over the project you were on? Thus your previous firm lose out on the current SoW agreement?

I am passionate about privacy law, 1st Am, gaming, but with COVID happening when I graduated and colleagues getting offers revoked due to budget cuts, I took first job I could which was an immigration firm I interned at — long story short it was and remained shit pay, I was manipulated be taken advantage of by the bosses, so I took the first job I could to escape and get paid better — recruiter reached out for an ID firm, I figured it’d be good experience. I am potentially getting an offer from Meta as a product manager, in active interviews now. Any comp gut checks available for an L4 or L5 product manager? They won’t give solid info on comp until the offer, I don’t want to waste my time. Also, any insight into work/life balance in this type of role would also be helpful. My current role is super flexible and I am pretty happy, so it’s about more than comp increase to me.

I started at a V40 firm around the beginning of the year, and it’s quickly become clear that meaningful, substantive opportunities aren’t available to the associates because the partners are hoarding all the work. The people are nice, but I’m concerned that spending too much time at this firm without getting any competitive experience will end up hurting me in the long run. When is too soon for me to consider looking for another opportunity?

I was at a dinner tonight with a Partner, a Counsel, and a mid-level, and literally we had nothing to talk about but work. Like it’s all we do, every waking hour. I really feel like I have no purpose in life right now, and viewing these people as iterations of my future, it doesn’t seem like this is going to change if I stay in BigLaw. On one hand I feel too cowardly to leave BigLaw right now if a recession is occurring. On the other, life is too short for this living purgatory.
