Congratulations OP.. where in Germany? Where are you currently based in US?
Near Frankfurt (not exactly there but in Ingelheim). I am in Chicago now
Why do you want to move to Germany and do you speak German? If you’re getting what you want out of the experience, go for it and don’t look back!
Thanks for the helpful tips. Unfortunately I am not able yo get hold of someone with similar experience but I will follow the social media tips you shared. Thanks!

OP - international exposure is great to have on a resume. I take you have a family. Think about changes and adjustments you and your family will need to make. Also, search expats forums to get more info on life in Germany and etc.
Few years ago I had the opportunity to move to Dubai, but respectfully declined offer as it was too big of a change with very young kids (2, and 4) at that time and also because of drastic cultural differences.
Thanks for your response. I understand your issue and the decision you had to make. I actually am single hence decided to take this leap.
I’m german and think it’s objectively a great country to live in, in terms of salary, quality of life, cost of living, natural beauty, travel opportunities, infrastructure, etc. It can be a little cold to outsiders though, especially if you don’t speak german (and especially compared to the USA). We have our share of issues but honestly when I look to the USA I thank god that our politicians are relatively reasonable in comparison. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask me
Thanks for your valuable insight. I am going to Ingelheim. I may find an apartment in Mainz. Would you be kind enough to share any tips around these areas in case you know about them? ThThanks
OP - why not? You’re single, 39, feel the respect from them recruiting you. You’ve got nothing to lose - go for it and enjoy this new adventure.
Thanks Dear !! I think so too. Your positivity reaffirms that belief. 🙏🏻

Also German: you will make less (i think) but life is much cheaper in Germany. I am dying to go back ;-) it will be a bit difficult at first to meet people but the friends you make will stay forever. Plus - in my opinion - you have a much stronger social belonging
Thanks for your response. Yes I feel it’s a good country. USA is great but I was getting tired of the immigration game here. Immigration there was smooth

Hey just coming here with another consideration if this is relevant to you. I’m Asian, and I experienced a lot of discrimination in Germany because of my ethnicity, both overt and otherwise.
Ohh sorry to know that. Was it very upfront or subtle like indirect? I heard Germans are not very open and may seem cold but sometimes they are just respectful of your privacy. Once you make friends, they are for ever. Any particular instance you felt they were outright discriminative? Few people are that way everywhere. May be a one off instance?
Are they sponsering work visa ?
