Being late to an interview. Instant no from me. I'm more forgiving in the Covid world, where interviews are remote and people have back to back meetings, or the occasional tech hiccup. Even then, if more than a few min late to a video interview with zero email, text, or note in the chat about being held up.... it raises eyebrows. But when it's in person, arrive early. If they can't make the time and effort now, when they're trying to impress people, what will happen if I hire them? Also, when emailing, if my name is spelled wrong.... nah. You couldn't look at my email address right there? Or look me up on LinkedIn?
As a hiring manager...when someone spells my name wrong 🤦‍♀️ I have a fairly common name that can be spelled different ways and one of my pet peeves is when someone misspells it.
Thanks for sharing, Vice Precedent 1.
I think in general not treating me as part of the interview process. The reason why is this — when the interviews are down to two people my clients will ask “what do you think?” Then press me on my experience with the candidate — did they have professional email communication with you, were they client appropriate, did they ever no show, whatever it may be...and then I’m forced to explain that maybe you were not! Just be as up and up with me as you are everyone else you meet. It’s all part of the process.
When an unqualified candidate applies to 1) multiple roles within the company or 2) keeps applying to the same role they're constantly being rejected for.
When your say unqualified, do you also mean no potential of fulfilling the role?
