Dear Mexican friends, happy independence day. I'm really happy with your happiness.

I live downtown Chicago and the honking hasn't stopped since last night. There are 195 countries in this world, if we hold 7 days honking celebration for every country. We'll never be able to sleep.

I'll love to participate in your celebrations however I'll also request you to hold back on honking.

Being a single working parent(3), sleep is anyway a luxury.

Do you really think the people who are honking are in A. On this app? B. In this bowl? C. Going to listen to you?

Lmao

OP - It is a feature, not a bug, of city living that there is always something going on. I hear Glen Ellyn is nice and quiet

Also, surely you realize the demographics of the United States don’t actually suggest that independence celebrations for all 195 countries would be of similar magnitude.

I think you’re missing the point that you can’t really compare this year with the “last decade”. Also the fireworks and parties were definitely until 5am in my neighborhood for weeks around 4th of July. I hear the suburbs are quiet...

I’m all about celebrating this holiday, but is it really necessary at all hours of the night? Ive already been struggling with mental health and insomnia the last few months and this is make it way worse.

I thought it was awesome. This has been such a f***ed up year, it’s nice to see something positive and fun. It’ll all be over in a few days and we’ll be locked inside with freezing and snow and whatever.

I say party on. Take advantage of every minute you can. Let’s celebrate every one of those nationalities all night long. I can nap during that conference call full of people that like to hear themselves talk (and are desperate in these covid times so take full advantage of every call).

Loud and proud! 🇲🇽 Lol but I get that loud late celebrations are annoying. Not much you can do to stop mexicans from partying...

I'm with you!

I live in Streeterville too and the honking happened for only 5 mins a day. Not sure what you are really complaining about tbh

Well most areas in loop were sleepless or stuck in traffic...

Looking for baby moon recommendations for early March. Obviously Covid is an issue, but hoping it’ll be better by then (at least this omicron wave may be over) somewhere warm, and not too far of a flight from DC area, tho if it’s affordable we are willing to fly. Trying to stay in the states since pregnant. Any reccs? I’ll be about 20 weeks pregnant. I know it’s early but it’s the only time we’ll be able to take before the baby comes.

Question for moms past the young toddler phase - at what age did you find your child could safely & independently play/entertain themselves for 30-60 minutes? My just-turned 2 y.o. can play fairly well independently for 5-10 minutes and of course needs to be very closely supervised for safety (he loves to climb).

Just trying to put in perspective when we may get to the next step of having a chance to do something while we know he is safe/playing on his own. Thanks!

Got the absolute worst freaking cold at 38 weeks. Had the flu and covid vaccines and am testing negative for covid but omg I cannot shift this after a week and I swear it's getting worse. Any advice for what I can take?! So decongested combined with baby pressing on my lungs makes me feel I'm constantly short on oxygen so just not sleeping at all :(

How long does it take to get over ptsd from being in a toxic micromanaging environment?

I was a top biller and top manager at a large staffing company for five years and was treated like a child. The place was crazy. Six months into my new role I’m still scared to request PTO or afraid that my boss would be mad if she found that I took an afternoon break to walk my dog.

I am so sick of hearing about well-being and the “tips” we should adopt in trying to make a difference. Blocking out time in my diary doesn’t do anything aside from making my days longer. It’s about time management assess workload (client and non client) and actively resolve that as the FIRST step to helping most of our wellbeing. Rant, sorry.

Alright so there’s a thing called reclaim my status. If you had a reason why you lost status in the last year or two like COVID, baby, new job, etc. You need to submit some basic documentation and they give you that status for 3 months with a DRASTICALLY lower threshold to make the status permanent and even higher tiers are much easier to obtain during those 3 months. Google “reclaim my status Delta”

Welcome everyone! I’m so happy this is being utilized. A little background on me, I got my Bachelor’s when I was 20 and immediately went into both Child & Adult Protection careers. My goals are to grow financially so that I can give back to our underserved populations even more.
