On the amazing book "Moving Zen" about an American martial artist who moved to Japan to study Karate, on the day that the author earned his 1st degree black belt (Shodan), he had to spar with the other, higher ranked masters, who taught him a lesson in humility. By the time the class was over that day, the dye from his new black belt stained his uniform (gi) because of all of his sweat. The basic lesson was that attaining the rank of black belt signaled the beginning of a new journey and of learning, and that the student must remain humble and ready to learn.

A newly minted junior partner is like a Shodan in consulting.

wish more folks on here could rise above trying too hard to be sarcastic/funny and actually have something to say like pwc4. Don't get me wrong, I like the occasional well-humored jibe as well but hate it when it comes in the way of well intentioned and insightful questions such as the one posed by OP

P4, you're clearly missing the point here - passed or past

I'll let you all sort out the grammar debate. To the OP's underlying question: yes, but a good new partner will not be surprised by being considered "junior" by the rest of the partners. That said, on balance, being a partner is still a pretty good gig!

like

So basically you're saying does feeling junior never actually end until the day you retire?

Pwc4 thank you for trying to bring it around

It's definitely "past". For the people that think it's "passed" - congrats on being a scathing indictment of the shortcomings of our education system.

I know I realized that after I posted and couldn't delete it lol

For context, I'm an experiencd hire with 15+ years of overall experience and was hired for my high demand niche skills in Salesforce. On my third week at ACN Intv. Thanks!
