Seeking to transition out of the current industry into cloud computing. Spent the last 2+ years learning and acquiring experience in AWS, CI/CD, Jenkins, AWS Pipeline, GitHub, and Terraform. Honing Bash and Shell scripting. Picked up certifications as a PMP, AWS Cloud Practitioner, and AWS Solution Architect Associate along the way. Already have an MBA. What is the best way to break into the cloud and/or DevOps community?
- Finished MBA end of 2018 - Upon graduation, MBA hire to tier 2/3 firm (basically tech consulting), laid off June 2020 - October 2020- started as PM/scrum master with mid-tier AWS consulting partner Question- I've always wanted to go to a top tier consulting firm for the experience/brand for PM/Program management. Would you be willing to take a paycut to make it happen? It seems in current climate candidates have all the leverage, but being told I don't have the experience for manager level
Recently laid off from Sr. Consultant role in energy in Houston. 4 years exp in supply chain/procurement and 2 in consulting (mainly tech PM work aka scrum). Have my MBA and PSM 1 cert. Hey all, would love some advice. I’m a Business Analyst with 5 YOE and minimal technical skills. And I’m really unhappy where I’m at. Very underpaid, and feel like I’m limited in job opportunities. I want to become more technical but no idea where to even start! I was thinking about starting with a certification but most seems really tough to learn as a newbie. Any guidance/advice on which certs to look at? Was thinking AWS cloud practitioner as a starting point? Any help welcomed!!

Not work related but idk where to ask this. We’ve been invited to our first post Covid cookout. It’s at my husband’s former colleagues place so we don’t the hosts too well but we know there are not going to be any kids so mostly a grown up football party. What would bring to it? Because of the current scenario I’m skeptical of bringing my home cooked dip.
Do you resign over email to HR/Coach or is a phone call more preferable in these Covid times?
My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.
