Wait and see how student loan forgiveness efforts turn out over the next 6 months before paying anything extra back. Maybe even wait until midterm elections. By then, we will know about the fate of forgiveness, and you can pay the optimal amount then.

Yeah, I was going to wait until Jan before making any big moves for this exact reason
So personally I would put have at those loans. 6 months is still a pretty good safety net. Reducing the principle is going to drastically remove the amount of interest you'll have to pay and thus reduce the amount of time that will be needed to pay off your loan. Plus you can grow your safety fund over the coming months. Just want I would do. Do you bud
I would suggest putting money on the loans as well. Also, a perk of putting it on them is you can opt out from advancing due date. So technically you will have paid in advance and not owe on them for a while. This is what I have done and donât owe anything until 2022 for one and 2024 for another. Although they will start accruing interest once the freeze is up, I view not owing anything for a while as a way to free up cash if something goes wrong and I lose my job/canât make a payment.

Is this something we need to request or does it automatically apply?
