Make sure you announce to any and everyone that you’re vegan. Maybe you can start CrossFit too.

It’s actually very much the other way around. There are vegan who are incredibly militant.

That’s awesome. I would council you to work with a doctor to plan out a healthy diet, including the various supplements you may need, to live a healthier life. Also, realize those documentaries are made to influence and may not be completely true. The game changers in particular had a few cringey moments that were completely misleading.

Did you read the article? It raises more questions about the role of starches than answers. The only thing that’s fair to say is humans used variety of foods to meet their needs and support bigger brains ie. I went vegan over time and best decision! Make sure you add lots of veggies and fruits to your diet!

Yay - eat tons of sugar! Wooo brilliant idea

Just know that vegan doesn’t necessarily = healthy. It works for some people, and if it works for you, great - but it is absolutely not the end all, be all pinnacle of health. A lot of that documentary was misleading, so make sure you talk to your doctor and a nutritionist before buying into it fully!

I’m considering it too, I’ve been vegetarian (for ethics reasons not health reasons) for 13 years but I think I’d feel healthier going vegan.

Definitely Worth it. When you're considering that some of the strongest Animals get their all their nutrition from Plants.

As always, the answer is moderation and balance. Human race first and foremost for a long long time was hunter gatherer. Agriculture came much much later. Industrialized agriculture is even more recent. Polarized opinions it seems are the order of our times.

Working with a financial advisor who is trying to sell me on Indexed Universal Life Insurance (IUL) as an investment vehicle. Supposedly there’s no downside risk and 5-7% returns and it’s not taxed. It seems too good to be true and makes me raise an eyebrow. Wondering if anyone has any insights into this or if my advisor is taking me down a risky path.

Anyone have any tips for switching from midsized to firm to big law in Chicago? Litigation, non equity partner that is going nowhere at my current firm. Doing insurance defense but have significant trial, deposition and discovery experience.

Partners won’t turn down more work despite the associate exodus. I get it. Firms are businesses. But, there will be consequences. Deadlines will be missed, things will be sloppy. PSA to associates: you’re the loser here because we are in a service profession and firms make profit off of how many hours they can squeeze out of us minus our fixed salary. Put yourself first because no one else will. To those who say it’s justified cause $$$, I say no job should require us to sacrifice our health.

The pressure at work has increasingly led to a strain on my mental health. I have allowed myself one too many times to prioritize the needs of others (clients, PPMDs, etc.) before my own and the price is showing in my inability to highly perform like once before. I’m at the point of not caring about anything any longer, even if that means risking my job. I’m not sure the reason I’m posting this—perhaps I’m seeking guidance or maybe I just needed to vent. Sigh…
