I was trying to get a reciprocal CPA license, and the state did a background check and came up with a misdemeanor cannabis charge from over a decade ago. I’ve gone through numerous bg checks before and this has never come up (including my original cpa license), and I to my knowledge it had been expunged. What kind of a lawyer should I get before responding to the state board? I don’t want to respond before speaking w/ someone and jeopardizing my license.

Top 10 accounting firm. I currently work in a specialty tax, but am wondering if I should go back to federal. Same pay, just more client facing. Our specialty group is small so I end up doing 80-90% of the work with little to no associates or seniors to pitch in. I like the challenging work, but I would have a full team working with the federal group. Thoughts?
