I’m on a project w/ 25 consultants. We each rent our own car and drive separately to the client site and fill up their lot.
Are you not covered under your company’s car rental insurance policy? Don’t really understand the question
Different projects will bring you diff situations. It’s honestly best to bring up your policy to Deloitte reqs. Who wants to be stuck with car pool buddies after working all day, unless your project requires it honestly.
Thank you. This was helpful
It’s common to share cars but my no means guaranteed. Everyone I’ve known at Deloitte was able to rent a car, and I’d advise you to go that route since at any point you might get staffed on a project and be expected to arrive the next morning.
It’s maybe less of an issue now with the pervasive availability of Uber/Lyft, but that might not work if it’s a long drive or in a really remote area.
You get $100K injury coverage per person (up to $300K)
I don’t have a car and don’t have auto insurance so I looked into this
There’s a page on DNet under Travel -> auto rental
My bodily injury coverage is below the threshold
Rental car companies have the minimum legally required liability insurance anyway, they just don’t highlight it in an effort to sell you insurance you don’t need. And any victim would go after your firm. I don’t know about Deloitte, but we rarely rent cars anymore, instead relying on Uber
Thanks for the FYI. I'd rather take uber/lyft, to be honest
I'm joining Deloitte and need to submit my personal liability coverage document as part of onboarding. The legal jargon forbids employees from renting a car if their personal liability is below the threshold.
I'd like to know if team members typically carpool because if so, does this mean I do not need to worry about being forbidden from renting a car?
D2 you clearly don’t own a car - OP does and is already required to have insurance by the law. The only people that can opt out are those that do not own cars.
You are covered by the Deloitte group insurance. Don't sweat it. But call 1800 Deloitte if you want to be sure.
Thanks!
I think the prudent thing to do would be to increase your insurance. It’s likely only a few more bucks a month.
Take this from someone who was part of a more than million dollar lawsuit. It isn’t fun.
And while you’re at it - get an umbrella policy for any assets you may have
