Does anyone have experience with Ben Glass’s “Great Legal Marketing” programs? https://greatlegalmarketing.com
I ordered a free “starter kit” from his company and received a decent-sized box with some books and audio CD’s. Haven’t listened to the CD’s yet, but the books aren’t bad, with plenty of practical advice.
Now he’s running a promotion where you can get two months of his basic-level course for just $19.95 to cover the cost of shipping. It seems that Ben is one of the better-regarded legal marketing “gurus” out there.

Utilization is one of the main factors our firm uses, just because it shows how much you make the firm.
PY ends the first week of March. Utilization targets are one of the biggest metrics for YE, especially at the more junior levels. Niche area will not help save the day, especially when most of Consulting has no bench. The only times when utilization is acceptably low, is in cases of LoA, Paternity/Maternity leaves, and mid-year hires.
If you’re close (say within 5%), usually not an issue. Beyond that, you may drop in rating (or whatever the new equivalent is if you’re doing RPM 2.0). If you are substantially low, it may mean a PIP. One way to help your case is to show how you spent your down time (relevant trainings, certifications, pursuits, eminence etc)
Utilization targets are important. I’ve witnessed a Sm/SpL who was hired for his niche reputation and expertise (authored books etc.) and was eventually let go due to low utilization. He seemed to have the impression he was hired to develop/grow business for that niche and therefore his utilization target was unimportant. Deloitte disagreed.
March 9. Utilization is very important but if you have a story (Eg you were held for a project, you had capped hours) you can make it work. Your level is also an important factor.
