Deloitte folks - Does anyone make personal payments through their Amex (for the points) and then expense them as personal? Is this allowed?

And just to be clear: don't do it.

No and no. An occasional charge may go unnoticed but do it enough or with certain merchants and it'll get flagged. It will also cause you headaches getting the personal payment vs autopayment correct and on time. Besides there are better free personal rewards credit cards like Citi Double Cash.

You're not supposed to but this is something they really don't care that much about.

like

You'll get an email from "Expense Compliance" that says, and I'm paraphrasing here, "don't do that shit again dumbass."

like

I got a nasty gram once when I had to pay for something with an Amex

like

Yes, it's still a problem at D. See my posts above.

like

Major purchases will get scrutinized, and can get you fired. Small purchases are against policy but will likely slip through, at least for a while. As D3 said, don't do it. The reason you can at all is so if you have personal incidentals or make a mistake it's not a big deal.

like

Why not just get a personal Amex like the gold? Don't know Deloitte's Amex offerings but I'm betting the PRG is a much better card for personal spend than any of the corporate offerings, and the AF is way less than platinum which I'm assuming you already have or can get like at PwC. Chase Sapphire Preferred is another great general purpose card to complement a corp. travel card.

like

Haha thanks all the D friends! Will get a personal CC for the points.

like

Get a personal Amex card and link the accounts. Points are accumulated across both cards.

Wondering as well

As someone on their watchlist, you will get emails regularly about it. I haven't used it improperly more I had a lot of 2nd parkings when it was a lot of back and forth for two months on a client doing interviews. Don't get on the list it's fucking annoying, my client is next to a Whole Foods so we do team lunches at Whole Foods every freaking time I get an email about it.

D7 - Literally have no idea what any of that meant but the underlying tone sounds terrible

I just had a person expense of $200. Nobody said nuthin

So if I make personal payment using Amex and then pay the credit card bill with my own money, is it still a problem?

Hey guys. I have a soon to be nonprofit church struggling because they already started services (collecting offerings too against my advice) before things were set with an EIN and they gave an event already planned out and are trying to find a way to spend and collect before the things are in order. Can anyone advise how long you should wait until you chase a tax refund? I had to paper file my state return which I submitted July 15. I still haven’t seen anything come into my bank account.

I hope most of us can agree on the below as fellow Americans: -Any group wanting to cause harm to people or a specific group of people have no place in our country. -Clearly our country is hurting and needs productive dialogue at the community, state, and national level from both sides. -One side is never right. MSNBC, Fox News, and CNN are also rarely right. -We’re in dire need of empathy and care for one another regardless of political views, race, geographic location, gender, etc.
