Can someone help me with interview questions for tax position at Salesforce? Do they ask tax technical questions or it’s just behavioral/ situational?Salesforce
Currently a sr. analyst at ACN in strategy looking to make a jump. Anyone willing to make a referral to MBB/OW/ATK/LEK?
Ladies who have been promoted to a manager role, what would you say is the greatest different between it and your time as a consultant/senior consultant? I know this varies slightly between firms but I’m considering going for a manager promotion down the line but want to make sure I’m comfortable with what will be expected of me (and see what I need to work on to be successful).
Have a little less than 1YOE at my firm (started in Sept) - is it a bad idea to apply now or should I wait to the 1YOE mark? Would it be a bad idea to cold apply? Don't want to miss out entirely on the hiring spree but also worried about being dinged due to relatively little experience. I don't have a lot of connections at the firms but can probably pull together a referral in the next few months with some networking.
Is very high stress over the staffing process a good enough reason to leave? I’m not the best cold-networker, i’m much better at keeping a network once i’ve actually worked with people. I am constantly anxious and stressed and thinking about when i’ll next roll off, worrying about being let go off the bench and never finding a new role.
A CRO offerred me an internal consulting/biz dev role. They offered 145k TC (20% bump) and slightly better benefits. They also offered accelerated path (6mo to 1yr) to MC. While promotion to MC at my current company is at least 1 year away. The job is interesting to me and fits my careery goal. But my big concern is that I've only been with my current company for a year (this is my first job, post PhD). Would this affect my resume in the future in terms of being viewed as "job hopping"?
What's the weirdest exit you've ever seen? Social worker, candle making artisan, Buddhist monk, chocolate maker....?
I am 35, currently a manager, on track to get promoted to senior manager next year. I work on post merger integration/ separation. I want to break into PE (investment team). I am currently learning the basics. How should I break in? Any advice, what role should I target
Interviewing for a great position in industry (tech). They have equity comp & great benefits. Spoke to their HR, then interviewed with 2 people in the tax department and am getting scheduled for a next round of interviews. The only problem is: the office is about 1 hr from my house (I own). They said repeatedly that they want someone who will be in the office 5 days a week. I would actually move but can’t rent out my place now due to some repairs going on that will take 4-5 months. Thoughts?
Well I'm gonna ask for help on here, anyone know if their firm is hiring in consulting either S&O or HC?
Piggybacking off the manager post below. SA3 currently at 115k NYC. What kinds of exit opportunities are available for me? Should I stay for promotion? What would I reasonably get?
Does anyone want to refer me as an Account Supervisor or Senior AE and get a referral bonus? A lot of experience with Ogilvy, Deutsch, Amazon, Microsoft, etc get in touch : email@example.com
Looking for advice! I work in tax law - I did ~3 years at a small firm after law school, got my LLM while working full time, then transitioned to a position in-house where I’ve been ~1 year. I dislike the company’s lack of transparency, it’s internal management structure, and the politics in the tax law department in particular. On top of that, I’m already feeling burnt out (likely due to the work volume and multiple forced resignations in my dept in the past couple months).CONTINUED IN COMMENTS
ITW Illinois Tool Woks is another loser. I'm sharing all active trades. this is another re-opening trade. I opened this at the end of November, and the long is down about 45%. The trade is only down about 15% though as the shorts have been rolled a few times already. Since I have 82 more days in the long, I can roll the shorts at least 7 times and even at $1 each the trade is a small winner. If TIW even goes down another 50% it becomes a decent winner.
Do any of the MBBs consult for FAANG or top tech companies? Or do all those companies exclusively use in house strategy teams? If any MBB does, a referral would be much appreciated
Applying for a manager role in advisory at Grant Thornton in a HCOL, 10 YOE. What should total comp look like? Additionally, does Grant Thornton offer relocation bonuses? And if so, how much?
Hey 🐠, I’m trying to understand if I need to be looking for lateral exit opportunities from a compensation perspective. I’m a Manager in the M&A IT practice, 12 YOE (7 in Tech and 5 in Consulting). I am happy with the work I do and the people I work with are tolerable. New base salary is $178K starting this month. Asking because I’ve heard that people should keep jumping from one company to another in Consulting to have a competitive comp. Basically guys, is my compensation competitive?
Which steps would you take to prepare for an eventual VC exit? How would you work towards standing out with a strategy consulting as opposed to banking background?
🐠 from Accenture Germany: what are some of the best corporate benefits at the firm? Do you guys offer discounts on Gym membership or have car lease programs? Thanks in advance😊
Secretly find COVID19 to be a good lesson for someone just starting their career- taught me to save up for a rainy day, cherish everything in life and stop taking “normal” things for granted 🙏
Experience with Automatic Revalidation entry to US? H1B holder with 3 year approved I-797 and other valid documents but expired H1B visa stamp. Thinking of travel to Mexico / Canada
Hey team need some help - I’ve flown United since I was a child, and naturally I’ve flown with them through and through my consulting career. I just flew on Delta for the first time and it was so much nicer than what I’ve been used to. What’s loyalty like here at Delta - and is it worth status matching and becoming Delta loyal? NYC based if that makes any difference. TIA!!
Can somebody please explain to me why MBB and other top consulting firms are so adamant that you have an MBA? I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Idk if I would learn anything in an MBA program that I hadn’t already learned in undergrad
Compensation discussion: any downside to bringing up the offer I have? Current compensation is $109 w bonus, offer is $125. I want to have the option of staying even if/when they say no.
Anyone work at Amazon tax? What are hours like for tax? Time off? Is it the same as B4? What’s a senior tax analyst make? Manager?
Any advice on what to do to cope with stress the days leading up to your CFE results? (Canadian CPA exams). Feeling extremely anxious and any little thing seems to push me over into anxiety
Starting at McK (NA) next month and my training just moved from in-person to virtual - are you all seeing a decline in business travel because of covid concerns? I'd heard that a lot of teams had started to travel over the past few months
I have 50k in my 401k account and I am planning to move back to India by next year, I plan to be vested in the 401k for long term, hopefully till maturity. In that case, when I withdraw my 401k amount after 30 years will I be liable to pay taxes in India or USA?and will it make sense to convert the 401k to roth IRA?
I recently passed the CFE and was looking into the CAMS next. Any suggestions on how to best prepare for the CAMS? I’ve been mostly reviewing the index cards that come with the prep material.
Do you ever get a sense that desi women tolerate abuse more than women here? As in, perhaps several of the things we identify as abusive in the US aren’t even considered abuse in the context of this culture yet?
I found this article and wondered what people here thought about it. It deals with teacher licensing tests. Among other things, it presents the case for a positive correlation between performance on a licensing test and performance in the classroom. It also argues there is an outsized number of teachers (over 50%) that don’t pass the licensing test on the first try. Any newer teachers out there who can weigh in on their teacher prep program and the licensing test experience? https://www.nctq.org/publications/Driven-by-Data:-Using-Licensure-Tests-to-Build-a-Strong,-Diverse-Teacher-Workforce/
Considering switching from B4 audit to FDD in either B4 or Houlihan Lokey. Spoke with someone at PWC who said they usually do 50-60 hour workweeks. Anyone at HL by any chance that can tel me about their work schedule and culture?
Case interview prep: we all know how to do this post-MBA, but how to approach this for a lateral to MBB as a manager? Where to find "advanced" cases?
What people data do you regularly report on? How are you providing insights to leaders with it?
Teaching moment: Do not show up to an interview an hour early. Just be there on time. 10 minutes early max unless otherwise told.
Sick for the first time in 2 years because I spent time with extended family and their kids. What is it about kids constantly being sick?? I spend 2 days around toddlers and my immune system takes a vacation.
