You get a meeting invite from a Partner called “performance talk”. What’s happening now Isn’t just happening to low performers. It’s happening to people of various tenures and performance levels. When you join they thank you for your service and move you over to HR to explain the separation processes. Hasn’t happened to me but there are multiple threads talking about it

I can assure you that this is also how BAH would do it. This is standard practice for firms who are downsizing

Pre-IPO BAH really did take care of people. It also helped that the firm was growing 15%/year. Now, your contract ends and you get a a letter saying find a contract in 2-3 weeks or we’re letting you go. If they say that in onboarding training now they are LYING.

Most consultants do not really understand how consulting firms make money... The cheaper the resource the higher the profit margins! Many consultants get comfortable becoming expensive to the firm without developing new marketable skill sets. The consultant is the product the consulting firm sells to organizations. From the firm’s perspective, it may be cheaper to get someone fresh out college to do the exact work an experienced consultant is doing...

This is part of a larger looming economy issue, for now the band-aid fix is to “move around”, but it’s only a matter of time before this issue hits every firm

@D1 damn 😐. Other 🐠, is this normal at your firms? For BAH you are just placed on the bench...

I was at BAH when that happened. One SM refused to show up to work thinking if he didn’t come in, he wouldn’t be fired 🤣

Federal MBB🐠, were you given the opportunity to work any commercial projects your 1st year with the firm (if desired)? Bridges never burned, debating re-kindle conversations...

Can restructuring consultants exit to distressed PE funds without going through banking? Based on research it seems majority go through IB before PE. How do people feel about a career in distressed PE (or for that matter distressed HF) from either content of work/pay/WLB/exit POV? And what is the best seniority level to exit to such PE? TIA!

Had 2 HUD rented properties and currently selling them and unsure whether to invest in purchasing another one or just use that money to buy stocks. Hi ladies! I am seeking advice as I am torn between between prepping and applying to MBA or FAANG jobs. I currently am at 4.5 YOE, 150K base, engineering manager. My network has advised that an MBA can help pivot careers as I’m exploring content strategy (Netflix). One of my goals is to also work in London. I will add that there is an expectation in my family for higher education and candidly, my longer term goal is a CXO position. Thank you!
