You need to come back to the firm for 30 days otherwise pay back all of your leave to the firm. I highly recommend coming back for those 30 days. The firm is relooking at pay with raises expected in December for those that are behind. So don’t give up hope on Deloitte yet. Lastly, you wouldn’t be the first to come back for 30 days and leave, so that is something that happens.

I wouldn’t wait to see what “if” they decide you’re worthy of a market raise. You might still be considered on the low end of their pay scale but considered market. I highly recommend having an offer lined up with start date 30 days post leave. That way you get paid to take maternity leave and can take it easy when you come back to Deloitte while fully well knowing you’ll have a better salary soon!

Are you me? I am in the exact same spot as you, don’t have answer and looking for the same thing. Highly underpaid and overlooked for the mid year bonus thinking it’s time to move on. I have gotten a part time nanny to have few hours for my self to read and prepare for interviews and maybe squeeze in a certification

D1 I’m so impressed by you. I can’t bring myself to do the minimal each day. It’s exhausting

That’s humble of you to say! All the best with your job search

Potty training question for 21 mo- I am reading Oh Crap potty training & trying to find time to do this over a LONG weekend probably Thanksgiving as it will give me a good lead of one month to practice with my child. In the meanwhile, her daycare has started teaching potty training. When home my LO removes pants, goes and sits on potty by herself when she thinks she wants to pee with the diaper on as that is not something she can remove easily. What approach do you think is the best here?

Has anyone had cosmetic surgery and had their firm approve FMLA leave? I’m afraid my leave will be denied bc it is an elective procedure. The only reason I really care is bc my hours will be prorated for the 2 wks I’m taking off, and it is a 6 hr procedure with intense recovery. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with how firms view this type of request for billing attorneys and if the firm (as opposed to third party benefits admin) makes the final decision? FWIW, I’m at a big firm.

Apologies if this is a silly question - New analyst here and trying to get a handle on my finances and retirement portfolio. I’m familiar with the rough sequence of saving being: 3-6 months HYSA, Company match 401k, Roth IRA, HSA, 401k max, personal brokerage (Pls correct me if i’m incorrect here). My question is: Are you expected to invest as much money as you can into each step before proceeding to the next, or do you allocate a portion of your paycheck to each of these steps simultaneously?

I am about to return to work after maternity leave. I have a 4 month old and a two year old. Our daycare is periodically closing due to COVID. We don’t have family nearby to help when daycare closes and I’ll be headed into busy season upon my return. I’m already on a reduced schedule. No one else I know is in my shoes in my group/office at EY. How have your families in similar situations dealt with this? I feel like I’ll be very unreliable as we head into the busy season.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
