We'll, it's harder to get into than Harvard. What did you expect?
You should have worn a Deloitte tracksuit at the interview :)
A simple email with further steps or rejection is all that is needed. At least during experienced hiring process one can expect some professionalism? Am I asking for too much?
People need to stop whining. Do you reply to all LinkedIn job offers that are sent your way? Do you take the time out and send them a nice reply outlining you’re not interested after they selected you out of millions of profiles ? Maybe you do, but I don’t and many others don’t. Firms like Deloitte and EY have a mega mega pipeline and are NOT obligated to you in any way or form as a “candidate”. ## having said that, it would be helpful feedback for HR to at the very least send out automated rejection emails but then again the reason they don’t do that is because there may be other reasons you didn’t get a call back (leadership decision to stop pipeline in your practice, losing a major client, new batch of promotees at your level, etc) so they may want to reach out again at the right time. It’s how the game works ...
I think the disappearing speaks for itself, eh?
My D Advisory recruiter straight lied to me for six months about the project I was conditionally hired for was moving forward.
D1 - We are not trying to compete here on how to be an asshole to a candidate! Just highlighted my own experience and as evident of many others.
Some recruiters hurt the brand of their perspective firms.
Wish it was a hotline you could call or email in regards to crappie recruiters and unethical practices.
C1-Pretty sure you are at D. No burns please.
OP I wasn't trying to come across as an asshole although I see why one could think that...point is that many firms do this as part of their normal recruiting practices. Is it right? No. But unfortunately it's common. I feel for you. No need to get overly emotional.
In fact one of my colleagues had a 6 month recruiting cycle at D from start to finish.
To be fair, I had the same experience when I applied for EY BAP in my senior year of college
Ey2 - They don't care. If they need they ll come back.
Must be common. Similar issue happened to me at another firm. Said they were going to hire after 5 months of interviewing. Flew me to their main office twice to meet their big guy. Recruiter has called me multiple times about my status as they are waiting for a project. Literally calls me, not reverse and 6 months later still calling me to tell me im coming but no offer because there is no project. 👌🏽even if hired not a good sign. No thanks.
Not D. Just saying, no word probably isn’t good news don’t ya think?
...just some good ol’ process of elimination
I agree with op. You hear good feedback from third party seaech firm, but deloitte goes cold. No updates or whatsoever.
Sc1 - that sucks.
There was a post earlier today from someone who had the same experience at PwC. I also had this happen to me at PwC. 4 interviews, including one office visit, and everyone ghosted at me instead of telling me I didn’t get the job. HR people who do this should be fired as it is basically against the principles of recruiting but it ain’t going to happen.
I’ve learned to live with it, and move on after two weeks and at least one follow up e-mail. If I don’t get responses from one screening interview, I reapply because you can’t even consider filling out an HR questionnaire over the phone an “interview”. Eventually, the next job meant to be mine will be responsive from the beginning.
Maybe she/he moved on themselves
