Deloitte S&O vs. Accenture Strategy vs. Strategy& Deals. Best place to start a career out of undergrad? Eventually want to possibly pursue an MBA or go into PE/VC.

As someone who has been in S& Deals for 2 years, I would highly recommend the team. Sure the WLB can be egregious at times, but development never ceases. Projects are super interesting. My last 3 project were a combined deal value of $20B. Exit opportunities are ample. Small enough team spread across 5 offices so that it feels very familial. Depending on home office, travel is only by ~30% of the time (I’m in a smaller office and have been traveling more often so I’ll personally hit 135 days with bonvoy this year. We compete against MBB for projects and we get compensated as so (All in base + bonus I made $119K my 2nd year out of UG). The S& Deals brand is relatively young (~5 years) so lot of room for upward mobility. Brand promotes and converts high number of A>SA, which will raise all out pay to ~$175+ (no mba) and $195k+ (mba). Salary difference converges at SA2 with a base pay in low $170s. Leadership was all sourced from MBB so each project lends a unique opportunity to learn from different background (can cause friction as well) Ntm, We’re growing like crazy, too, having just hired 48 campus new hires (~50% growth).

S& deals, when recruiting PE/VC... firms only take consultant candidates from MBB and some tier 2s that frequently participate in diligences. You’ll get the most deal exposure at S& deals.

S& Deals will have the best pay, brand and exit opps. Will also have the worst hours. Deloitte and Accenture brand wise are the same, but Accenture Strategy is much more stable at the moment. Growing like crazy, have been selling out in lots of practices. Comp between the two is comparable as are exit opps. My hours with ACN have been awesome, so no complaints. I also really like the people, this will vary by group though.

I’m in S&A (Strategy). The Analytics side of S&A had layoffs, but our Strategy practice continues to grow

D1 is incorrect if you use our internal bowl as reference there have been layoffs in strategy of S&A. How many, and the proportion to other layoffs I cannot speak to.

Really depends. But you probably get more career flexibility with S&O, especially if you’re in the right practices. You probably can’t go wrong with S&O or S&.

Interesting, not what I am hearing from my colleagues also aligned to the strategy side of S&A
