American Airlines “Elites” be like:
Honestly I think this is a good thing. Sky Clubs are way overcrowded, and, as mentioned in the article, they are offering more premium amenities which now are accessible to people paying a premium price.
I’m an American that lives internationally. I’m a Delta loyalist (and just crossed into Diamond), so it takes me 3 stops on Delta to fly to my hometown from where I live overseas. Lounge access during layovers makes a really big difference for an itinerary like that.
With these changes, I’ll be jumping to United & Star Alliance (better international travel benefits anyway) and 1-stop itineraries to my hometown (with lounge access).

The real problem is the # of guests allowed per person, even for full fledged membership.
Pre pandemic more people were flying so WTF happened?
What the heck is the point of having the card if they’re going to charge you $50 to bring anyone else along!?
