^ totally agree. They likely have a “matrix” where they put in all the variables. call in and play it up: exhausted, wanted to sleep, this is why you pick Delta Bc one suites are nice, was a 8 hr flight, paid full farec fly delta 2x per week and this makes you question why you’d ever do it again on long haul, Etc etc.
Agree with BCG1, but go higher on miles. Go with economy price + an obscene starting point (e.g., 80k miles) Bc that’s the cost of a 1 way redemption or something like that
For the record, I got like 80k miles for a lost bag and a delayed flight on intl domestic. So if UA will do that for plat people, Delta should do better for intl biz
You MUST complain on the flight. If there are no other comparable seats they will complete some dorms with you to report it. Then you push as hard as you can for them to comp you a similar flight
I once saw a lady lose her mind and stormed off the plane when our transcon was changed from flatbeds to a regular first class cabin. She said she has back issues and couldn't last on the 5/6 hour flight. I wonder what she was reimbursed
If traveling on business, request Delta credit for the difference of J and Y ticket (or try to get the refund onto a personal card, but that's getting shady).
If you combine it with major back pain and sleep issue due to fatigue then full refund plus some free miles
Refund to reimburse to economy price, and points (probably 20k or so). Point of lie flat is you were expecting to sleep.

I got 20k for 2 hour delays from delta....alteast aim for full refund.. high status will help
I like the sound of @BCG2's view on 80k miles. All of this should just go on the standard delta complaint form?
Intl economy. **** yikes
Full refund or credit to your miles account. Hopefully you filled out the paperwork with the flight attendant.

The issue with full refund is that this is presumably a business trip, doesn't help OP :P

P1. What paperwork?
There are some dramatic folks in here lol. No refund, you still flew. But you are due some points for sure.
Do you call the desk or complain on flight
Was delta one sold out ? did they not have another seat ?
