Under contract for nearly 1.1M. Wife and I are at HHI $315k. Will go up in the future, $400k in 3 years and $500k possible in 5-7 years. We have $300k in non-retirement funds, $260k of which will go towards acquiring the house. We have 2 kids and will probably reduce (not maxing) retirement accounts next 18 months to do this. Anyone have any thoughts or feedback? We’ll have to live on a budget and watch but I feel we’ll get used to it and income will grow.

Asked them to pickup on 1st Aug. Repeatedly calling and mailing no response. I would be relocating to diff city on 17. Communicated that to HR already.

I am not allowed to buy any single named stocks from my employer. I am only allowed to invest in broad index funds. Do you guys have the same? And if so, do you still buy single named stocks without them knowing?
How would my employer know if I own single named stocks?
I am not trying to inside trade or anything, just have the opportunity to invest in stocks that we are not even invested in outselves.

Hey folks - I am looking into purchasing a 2-family home in HCOL area. One unit is being rented and the other would be owner occupied (me). After rent from tenants, mortgage would be around ~$4,200. HHI is around ~$235,000. Home price is $845,000 @ 5% down. Does this sound reasonable? Need advice if this is a good investment or I should fade away.

Can we show rent paying to parents if we are living with them.. Do company mandates that parents should be living in different city to qualify for such HRA exemption.

For rent paid below 1 lakh there is no need to submit landlord's PAN. I have calculated based on my HRA and if I show rent paid as around 96k my tax refund will be around 13k.

I have two kids and expecting my third - a 10 year old and a 5 year old. We live in NJ and work in NYC. We currently dont have a 529 plan for our kids; also not sure whether 529 is a good option for college education savings considering NJ doesn’t get a deduction for it; what other options are out there for college savings funds.
