Had titles of UXD and IXD working on enterprise applications in agencies, mostly related to financial services/asset management. I want to step away & join a product team for SaaS/emerging tech, but I got an offer for a Design Lead role at a financial services company a headhunter submitted me for.

Will accepting it pigeonhole my career? Certainly don’t want to entertain banking or financial services after even if it goes well, but the title will finally move me up to the sr/lead level

But now if I apply to UX or UI design roles obviously I am not that experienced.
Which means I need to take a pay cut starting as a junior ux.

I feel like I am not getting clear guidance or leadership from my design manager or my PM. I have been creating project initiatives, frameworks and discussion guides but there is no one really assisting me in creating them or stepping up to make decisions on the best path forward. I am trying my best but it seems like I am the only one creating execution docs and coordinating efforts across all stakeholders. Isn’t this my PM and Design managers role? Is this a major red flag?

I want to create a data visualization portfolio, but I’m not sure where to begin. I work in urban planning and wanna do more urban analytics kind of stuff. Does anyone have any pointers for me as to where to begin and what all different types of visualizations I should be aiming to include? I’ve used R and Excel for this so far.
