Would you travel with your 7 month old from NYC in flight right now given coronavirus situation?
I’m done with this contrived stress. I want to run off to Buenos Aires for a few months. I want to sit in a cafe, enjoy a nice cold Quilmes and people watch. I wonder how cheap travel will be to Buenos Aires after Covid. Their economy is f’d right now
Taking vacation days and turns out it’s actually good timing because I’ve begun getting very anxious and emotional about Coronavirus and being alone in quarantine. I had been doing fine, but (1/..)
Under normal circumstances (I.e. pre Covid), is it much harder to get sponsored for actually academic courses like MA or MPhil as opposed to MBAs? People might say those are not as relevant as MBAs to business, but MBAs don’t strike me as anything particularly vocational either.
How hard is it to get fired or put on PIP in Big 4 or public accounting in general? Aside from covid related departures.
Ladies, I love facials and massages but can’t justify a full-blown spa trip even though I’d love one (2022 or whenever Covid threat is minuscule). How did you consider the cost? Are there R&R trips out there with this kind of pampering that won’t break the bank?
Long post alert. Also, confusing post alert haha. So, I'm going to be divorced in the next few months and have 2 kids who'll be with me. Ever since this situation has been finalized, I'm becoming very conscious of our spend & have been tight about it. Covid has helped. But I noticed that even my grocery store bills are pretty high...like a single run to Meijer is $125+. Costco is like $200 or so. We've always had fresh fruits, nuts liberally used in our house. Folks, this is David Bossie, the man overseeing the Trump legal challenges. But get this, not only does he NOT have a law degree....he doesn’t even have an UNDERGRAD degree....😑😑 What he does have, though, is the coronavirus.....
What practice areas (if any) would be a natural move for a mid-level commercial real estate/finance associate? I started trying to leave my firm in February and, at the time, was super in-demand. Now, with Covid, commercial real estate is slow & I think I'll be stuck where I am for at least another year if I don't make a practice area shift. Are there any other practice areas where my experience would be valuable?
Has anyone made a move on a friend they’ve known for years and how did that work out? I’ve been hanging out a lot more with one of my friends during covid and we casually flirt every now and then, but I haven’t made a move yet because I’m just not sure how to do that with a friend without risking the friendship
I’ve been on a couple dates with a guy and we got ~physical~ on the second date. Third date is this week but due to COVID reasons I want to know if he’s seeing other people... what’s the best way to ask without thoroughly freaking him out? Usually I wouldn’t care this early but I feel like I need to be aware of his “germ pool” 😂
Are there any tax opportunities in industry these days that are secure? Currently in public, have been looking to make the move for a while, but with COVID all the recruiting seems to have dried up. I’m just wondering if there is anything out there.
5 weeks ago I told my boss we need to start working on a “we’re open again” spot. She basically called me blind for not seeing that the Covid crisis was nowhere near finished and then accused me of not having enough work to do. This morning at 6 am she texted me - “Need you to kick off a ‘we’re open again’ spot with the agency. Tell them they have 1.5 weeks to stand it up.”
What is your firm doing to boost internal networking? How have you been meeting people within your firm but outside of your service line since covid started? Anything in particular you think works?
Do you think Alvarez & Marsal will require employees to get a covid booster shot and/or seasonal flu shot?
Seeking an exit opportunity from Accounting/Finance consulting (Looking for Remote work).
I am two months short of completing 2 years of service at the current firm. I got a good offer and looking to move. This means I will have to pay back about $6k in joining bonus. Is there anyway I can negotiate this? I have so much overtime work hours that can currently be tracked to about 500+ hours for this year alone. What are somethings I should be aware of when paying back the joining bonus?
Company made an offer below my current compensation, even after I submitted my current compensation for proof. Is that normal or are they just taking advantage of a flooded job market?
Does anybody have a connection for Verizon? Applied for a position I’m greatly interested in and would love a referral or connection
Does anyone find themselves to be in a position where their work is mind-numbing but they’re overpaid? I want to escape but the opportunity cost is very high. Curious if others feel the same.
Anyone interviewed for the Implementation service line at McKinsey & Company? Curious to learn more about the business as well as how the interview looked like. Appreciate sharing your thoughts on this. Thank you!
Has anyone been offered a status buy-up for 2021. ~$1700 short of United 1k this year and think my travel will increase a good bit starting next year. Think it could make sense, especially given the 2021 thresholds
Applying to banks ( Citi, BAML, JPM etc) but don't want to move to NYC which is where most of their ops are. Any recommendations?

Can somebody please explain to me why MBB and other top consulting firms are so adamant that you have an MBA? I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Idk if I would learn anything in an MBA program that I hadn’t already learned in undergrad
Partner demanding to cancel spring break vacation that was approved last Oct. My project got pushed so now my vacay is the middle of UAT. Paid non refundable 5k air and hotel for my family. WTF?

Do those from MBB and BB banks have best shot at B School? I rarely hear about T2s and Big 4 getting into m7
What’s it like at McCann NY? The culture, the work, the work/life balance (if there is one)?
