I have to say I strongly disagree with ADHD being taken as a good thing in any context. Who I am as a person has been the major factor success, and ADHD is a big part of who I am. That being said, performing at the highest level and comparing my self to others at that level makes it painfully clear what ADHD does to me. Things that other people take as trivial are life and death struggles to me. The projects are easy, but I can't even submit my timesheets right...
Most of these mental “disabilities” are actual huge advantages like others say. Like take dyslexia for example, ok person reads slowly and may have trouble writing etc - but those people at the upper end are able to think way more laterally than “normal” individuals and are more creative as a result
It can be a super power too!
1. Hyper focus is a thing and I use it to do amazing things when the motivation hits me. 2. I think were more creative than the rest 3. I stopped beating myself up for procrastination and now I look at it as a super power. I don’t work as many hours as other people. I don’t do things just to do them. I do what is the most impactful, I break the rules, and I usually do things at the last minute in less time than it took others It gives me a rush and I get the same results as the others - so I win!
How do you make it your super power?
