It’s one of the struggles. When I first got off the pill I went from 125 to 140 and that’s when I discovered I have PCOS. Then lost 10 of it with a mostly gluten and diary free diet with some CICO and weightlifting. I did an egg retrieval and two rounds of FETs and ended back at 140. Got pregnant, gained 16. Lost my pregnancy at 22 weeks and immediately dropped 5lbs that day. It’s been 4 months and I’m still at 150. Long story, short: yes, the hormones last a while and this process doesn’t make it easy to get the weight off or keep it off. You kinda have to be a little gentler with yourself during the process because the last thing you want to do is starve yourself while trying to get pregnant. Eat well, exercise, take care of yourself and ignore the scale for now.

Yes, agree while you’re in the process it’s really hard to drop the weight. Intermittent fasting and CrossFit were my go-to combo for staying fit and losing weight, definitely would not recommend while in this process lol.

Yes. 5 pounds each round that won’t come off. I started at 115, went up to 118 after first baby, was proud of myself for getting almost back to prebaby weight. Now I’m almost 130 after two rounds of retrieval. I’m bitter af about it but what can you do.
Yep! Was about 115 give or take last time I weighed myself post-(first)pregnancy, then might have gained a few pounds before starting IVF, didn't really weigh myself then. But post IVF I was like 135 and then had my transfer.

I just thought afterwards the hormones would normalise. Do they ever?? We stopped trying because it just feels hopeless.

It’s sounds like those of us responding are still trying to various degrees so cant speak to what happens later.
Starting ivf soon, what made you gain the weight? Did the hormones increase your appetite?

Honestly I have no idea. Nothing changed much during the process. It’s now a month later where I’ve noticed the fat redistribution and difficulty in losing weight.
The hormones didn’t make me hungry or anything. I still managed to walk as exercise throughout. During retrieval, I gained six pounds in water that I peed in a short twelve hour period (so much peeing!!). And that was it! But after I got my period from a failed frozen transfer, my weight when up 4 - 5 pounds, and it won’t go away!
I gained about 2-4 pounds each cycle. I didn’t change my diet although did have to pause exercise. I’m going to blame hormones...
Did anyone try dieting before their egg retrieval? I’m nervous about gaining weight and want to start the process at a lower weight to offset anything I gain (have a few pounds to lose anyway). I heard dieting is not good for the egg quality because your body thinks it’s starving so produces less quality eggs? Not sure if it’s true but curious if anyone else has done this.
