Just started working in-house within the last couple of months. First real attorney gig after doing compliance. The GC was terminated and I had to fill in the role as GC (even though that’s not what I’m called). My company says they don’t need a GC. Talked to my boss today and they want to hire another to take things off my plate since I am the only attorney. They plan to rewrite my job position to do more risk and compliance. Am I wrong for feeling like I should have been included in the convo?

In house counsel: I’m a senior associate in a litigation boutique with significant “first chair” experience (50+ depositions, 50+ dispositive motions, first and second chair trial experience, briefed and argued cases before court of appeals and state supreme courts, etc.) I’m looking to move in-house but struggle to get past the initial resume screen. Is my firm name holding me back? Would I be well positioned to move to a bigger name firm before trying to move in-house?
