My wife runs rev cycle, finance and the call center for a large group healthcare system. She technically has more work-life balance but yet she’s always on/available as there are far fewer support resources at her disposal. As a result she’s burdened with lot more stress. She also has to navigate the most unusual / complex / untenable sets of circumstances w both doctors and patients alike. Examples include doctors who don’t present for their schedule for weeks, web-based PM systems that auto post other entities cash receipts to patient accounts backdated to a closed GL period and doctors who don’t complete their dictations, lose RVUs and accuse her of wage theft. No thanks. LOL.
If you’re not working but are stressed about / focused on work, is that “balanced”? For minimal stress w high earning potential, apply at for PE backed group practice(s) w provider comp production paid as a % of aggregate *cash collections* and diversified revenue streams w significant ancillary income. *this is important*
Depends on the level you go back as, if the work is meaningful, and if you care that’s it’s meaningful even tho it’s challenging AF.
