I asked my husband to sign one before we got married. He was offended at first but I wanted us to have something in place to protect us both while we were in the right state of mind, rather than trying to fight over everything in the event of a divorce. I wanted to make sure if we divorced he wouldn’t try to come after my pre-existing assets since I don’t have family to fall back on, while he does.
