Am I the only one who hates DEIA seminars facilitated by an older white men?? I’m not saying they aren’t or can’t be knowledge on the topic. But don’t they see the irony in being the one to present this to diverse audiences? This one guy mentioned how “some voices” in society have historically elevated above “others.” Like yea dude, you talkin abt YOU. White men continue to be over represented in leadership, government, and all positions of power in this country.

My boss a 68 year old Jewish man thought it was appropriate to quote Denzel Washington in “Training Day” to me. The conversation was about being soft spoken but know when to bring down the hammer. He mentioned how Denzel would code switch (my words not his) in that movie. He proceeds to say Denzel’s line to Ethan Hawks character, “My N***a,” I was dumbfound that he would say this in front of me, a black man. I knew to expect some forms of racism in this profession, but the ignorance is insane.

Ketanji did not come to play! Came out of the gate ready to fight and turn these racist arguments on their heads. The way she was dropping 14th Amendment bombs on that man made me so happy. And this is only her first day. I just hope they protect her well.

Hi Everyone! I'm currently recruiting for 2 in-house opportunities with a mission-driven FinTech startup based in Los Angeles. Both roles are remote, but the company is prioritizing CA based candidates. As such, you must be CA barred/or able to become RHIC.

The first role is for a Sr. Lending Counsel. The client is looking for someone with a strong financial services background to provide business and strategic counsel to internal business partners in support of (cont. below)

Do any of you have non-tech savvy parents/non-English speaking parents who rely on you for their account management? If so, do you know if there is a concern on our end for having the first line of contact from the bank/financial institution be our phone number/email? I always note that the account is my mom’s/dad’s and have them with me when speaking with the financial institution FWIW.

Just want to share a happy story - have spent the past 3 months slogging and fighting with red tape to launch our Asian affinity network/ERG. We had our hybrid launch event yesterday. 80+ people attended and we got direct congratulations from the participants, and from the regional managing partner and the Global Chair (!). It was a slog and much further to go but happy to take the small victory for now

There is plenty of space for all of us, and we are stronger together. Have some empathy for your kin and leave your bigotry at the door.

Does any other attorney POC feel like they have to live double lives? I’m guilty of trying to “blend in” with my white team members. I wish I could be myself (at least to an extent) and not fake it.
