Best Facebook ad I’ve seen
Let’s be honest, it’s yet another rip-O-Matic made with some great song or poem. Kudos to whoever decided to use that song but haven’t we seen this type of thing one million times before? I was impressed when I thought some creatives had written this. But they didn’t. So I am less so.
The poem wasn’t written for this piece, but as many of you know, curation of the right sound track is everything. More importantly, the thing I found most impressive about this piece was the one-liner that so perfectly captured the reason the vast majority joined Facebook in the first place—a way to contact and stay connected to the people you meet along the way. The fact that it’s a rip doesn’t negate the thinking in that one line. And it’s well crafted, IMO.
It's the best written and performed of these types of meaningless anthem ads in response to covid that I've seen.
But it's still just a meaningless anthem ad. Worse, a meaningless anthem ad that from a company that is widely regarded as not good people.
It’s by Kate Tempest - off her latest album - droga didn’t write or perform it, it’s produced by Rick Rubin
I wonder if they paid for all this footage or if it becomes theirs the second someone posts it on Facebook
do you really buy that it works that way? no. it’s 100% licensed by by actual humans who spend their days (and nights) chasing everything down, clearing it, and making sure people get compensated to be featured. to suggest otherwise is sort of an insult to their hard work.
I watched this for the first time 2 nights ago, and it hasn’t gotten old, since this whole thing started.
Before we get into it, I wanna say that from the top, Facebook starts their coronavirus talk by driving us to a site where we can help the misery stop.
A tangible action rather than intangibly changing their name, like so many others have made.
I wouldn’t go there, their site. After all, who cares about another site telling me what to do when everybody’s telling you what to think, or how it feel, or what to say?
But they remind us why. Why to even care and it’s because of all we see. The good. What’s right. What’s sacrificed and the price that’s paid so others can still breathe.
And how we breathe through all of it. Cuz it takes a person’s face to remind us why we’re here.
I never did a FaceTime with my parents. For the first time, I did it after watching this. And I won’t stop doing it, cuz I need their faces.
I need faces to make it through this.
I love people’s faces.
I would love if you did too. And I would love if you helped every face that you love too.
I love people’s faces. And data. That I can sell to Cambridge Analytica.
They turned comments off so there’s mine.
“Stumbling past” a “pivotal historical moment” is an accurate description of the mindset of many people though. Leadership especially. Trump immersed in his smartphone, his ego, tweeting away. Not looking where he’s... we’re going. Yep, “well, here we are” America. How many more died today?
I don’t remember stumbling into this moment personally. More like a bomb dropped. One we knew was coming.
Daaaaamn. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
No hate here. This is why we do what we do - to make people feel things. No matter how it got made it did and I’m glad. Thanks Kate Tempest and the team who put it together.
You're a class act 👍
It’s very well crafted and emotional.
It’s Kate Tempest
Yes, they did. It is beautiful. However I find it gross how many ECDs (3?!) CCOs (4?!) and CDs (4?!) are credited, especially when the words were written by someone else.
It really sucks when people say that just because the voiceover or lyrics were from another artist that the concept or the spot wasn’t “written.”
It all started from somewhere. A concept was created and sold through internally, and then sold to the client.
A story arch was scripted. Footage was found and edited by the team to match the script, and an end line was written and crafted to tie it all together (which isn’t easy).
Yes, the poem was created by Kate Tempest.
But the spot was written by creatives.
I never read these comments when God Made a Farmer came out.
Really good.
On a humanistic level the ad resonated with me. I actually shed a tear. Since I am isolated in my apartment alone I’ve felt so removed from the world and people. The ad made me feel more connected to others and that we are not alone in this. Globally we are all missing our loved ones, cannot connect face to face with people, and are worried about how we are going to get through the coming days (lack of resources, supplies, funds).
Maybe it's just me but I felt the Donor "When the Motor Stops" spot wasmore uplifting and better written.

Haha
Kate Tempest wrote it about Brexit, guys. It was way better in that context. It’s on her latest album.
It’s not borrowed interest unless it’s broadly known.
Better than that Jack Daniels ad
Yikes
I don’t understand how people can be mad at this spot or say it’s bad. We all work in this industry. This was both quick and smart; high craft. Haters gonna hate.
What is the VO from? Is that a clip or quote from something?
Came out in 2019 but I’m just being pedantic.
I like it.
Thought it was really nice and of the moment. Also liked Walmart ad with associates singing lean on me on their phones. Thought it was a nice message and nice boost for talented workers to share their skills and do something creative and powerful at this tough time. Still hate Walmart tho...
Nope
