I can’t stand people who are “taking time off” and are online doing work. Like, why?!? Have some boundaries for yourself. No one thinks you’re a hero for doing this.
I haven’t taken any vacation (other than one day here and there) all year. I’m taking two weeks off at the end of November and just told a partner and he was shocked (presumably at the length). Is this a faux pas?
I'm on vacation, completely removed for the daily hustle; enjoying my time off. My wife called with an urgent request: she needs help with a deck that's due on Friday.
Does anyone else ever feel like Deloitte is a cult? Just took some PTO and as much as I like it here, I'm starting to wonder if I am submitting to some cult and whether I should be concerned
I’m based in Canada and need to go to the US for a week. But the firm has a policy to restrict working outside of the country. Anyone know of a way around this without taking PTO?
What percentage of your day are y’all productively working? Lately I’ve been super distracted on my phone, personal email, holiday plans, posting about all the above on fishbowl, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s just me.
I’m a mid level lit associate. Headed out on a vacation tomorrow and feeling guilty leaving my case team behind who are all drowning. I know vacations need to be respected, but is it ok to feel this way?
What’s the most you’ve ever billed on vacation?
After you have given notice in California, do you still accrue PTO for the time between when you gave notice and when you depart the law firm?
Happy holiday weekend FBers!! The next 4 days are yours!!! Go on that run, go on the hike, go on that boat, make breakfast, go on a date, it's your time!!! Enjoy yourself and decompress, love you all!
Getting back from a two week 'vacation' exhausted and just as much in need of a break as I was before I left... FML
You know you travel too much when: you get excited about all the space you have in the bag that you're checking for a PTO trip.
Any US employees have a house in an EU country where you spend a portion of your time? Looking to buy a vacation home in Spain and spend bench time/weekends there. How do you make it work?
Ladies, how do you wind down in your vacation if you have no travel plans? Need some tips
Hey all! How is your firm handling travel? Is it voluntary or they start shifting towards a “no choice” to decide model? Is there any incentive from the firms to start traveling? Financial, PTO?
I am on H4EAD. Can I travel to Puerto Rico for project work ? Anyone one h1/h4 visa recently traveled to Puerto Rico ? How was the experience and any immigration related formalities due to COVID ?
In a dilemma- Im applying R1 and one of my managers who I’m going to request a letter of rec from is also who I would need to advocate for me for a promotion this upcoming cycle. Has anyone gone through something similar and have advice on how I should approach this?
I’ve gotten an RFE sheet request for my H1-B petition. Does this hamper my chances of getting the visa ? Because my degree is directly related to my role and is also clearly mentioned in the job description. So I’m not sure why I’ve gotten this. Anyone have experience with the same ?
Do connecting flights count toward MQS on delta?

Got a job offer at a tech startup but I might have to take a small pay cut. It would move me from tech consulting work to a more product facing role. I only have a year of experience but I’m wondering if anyone else did something similar by pivoting their career path early by taking a pay cut and how it worked out?
What does the compensation look like for Deloitte Applied AI data scientist? Background: masters degree, no work experience, Chicago based
Help! Just learned that my parents (54 and 56) only have ~100k in their retirement account. Their house is currently worth ~800k with ~450k left to pay on the mortgage. Their income is ~200k combined. They insist that they’ll have enough to retire on with social security and after selling the house. However, I have a hard time believing this since the max monthly social security payout is ~3k per person which doesn’t even get close to the 70-80% replacement ratio. How screwed are they really?
Noob question, i have around 100k United miles for round trip to India . Which provides better bang for buck using miles to book economy ticket or use the miles for upgrade
Neither of my parents have a 401k, investments, or savings. They have nothing. I want to help them retire at 65 which would be about 15 years away. I’m looking to put about $15k/ year until then into an account for them. A couple questions i have though: 1. What type of investment account would be best to maximize? 2. Once gifted to them, will they be taxed if they receive a certain amount? I have little to no knowledge in investing so I’m open to any other ideas and/or advice.
If I did an internship, should I remove it on LinkedIn to help recruiters? Because if recruiters just look at YOE, would they screen me out when looking at my dates being 1yr too long for my title?
Entering my 15th week unstaffed for the year. Does Deloitte do layoffs for low utilization? Mine is around 60%
I’m a mid-level AD woman of color and my creative leadership keeps hiring white man after white man. Seriously, my group leader is a white man, the CD and his partner are white men, the ACDs are white men, etc. They’ve all been hired within the past 2 months. How do I keep my head up and not get discouraged? It’s exhausting to be the most senior woman creative on the team who also happens to be a POC.
I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!
Why is Deloitte immigration team so difficult to deal with ? I left Deloitte cause of the immigration team and they ghost you for months every time you need documents for H1B/GC. How do you deal with this ?
